Catherine Reese of Hamiltonban

I have a very confusing person in my ancestery. One of my great great
grandmothers was named Catherine Reese. That is about all the information I have
been able to find out about her youth and pre-marriage time. There documents
that list her birth in Snyder County Pa on March 24, 1845. I understand that
Snyder County did not form till 1850 but that is not an issue too much. I have
never found a reliable document that places her in what was or is now Snyder
County. Nor have I found any documentation on any Reese (or any variation of it)
in Snyder County in that timeframe. The 1970 and 1880 federal census's listed
Catherine married to Jacob Flury, living in Penn Township, Cass County,
Nischigan. On those census returns was also waht was listed as a brother-inlaw
of Jacob's (Catherines brother) a Jonathon Reese/Reus. Searching Pa census
records for a Catherine Reese with an older brother named Jonathon or John
resulted in a match for a Catherine Reese in Hamiltonban Township, Adams County,
Pa. She was a daughter in the family of Henry and Catherine Reese. Follow-up
searches found only that Catherine(mother) Reese and a daughter named
Violetta/Violet Reese. They were members of the Lutheren Church that met near
Fountain Dale. They are on the memberships notes from December 9, 1842 till Jun
27, 1852 (they were atleast listed as attendee's).

Then we have here being married and have many children with Jacob. They were in
Michigan then Nebraska (in 1889) where Jacob died and is buried. Catherine went
to live with several children and finally died and is buried in Wyoming.

Nothing has ever been found to tie the Catherine that I have to the Catherine
fom Hamiltonban execept supposision. The Catherine was from a German family or
atleast had German roots as shown by her nmother and sister as members of the
Lutheren Churh. The Jacob Flury Catherine married immigrated from what is now
Switzerland. Around the time he was born though (1832 is thought) the part of
Switzerland that belon ged to Germany was the Neuchâtel canton. It was signed
over to Napolean from the King of Prussia. So with Catherine having Germanic
roots and Jacob immigrating from a Germanic place their marriage seems to make
sense. Also There seems to be a dispute in what I think are the Civil War
records fo Jacob. One is an enlistment/dischage record for a Jacob Flury that
enlisted in the Army on September 12, 1864 and discharged from the Army on
September 26, 1862 in Harrisburg Pa. It lists him as 24 then. Another document
thought to be his is a document ( men who enlisted and their reults) that shows
he was discharged from the Army in what appears to 26 March 1860 on a
disability. It lists him as 30 or 36 (herd to read the handwriting) and from
Solothurn Switzerland. It also says that he enlisted from Adams (maybe Adams
County??) and was discharged at Harrisburg, So there are some similarities and
some diffeneces there.

From my Catherine's obituary (information on it was then provided by her
son/grandson) she was born in Snyger County but moved when she was 17, with her
un-named foster parents, to Indiana. This would have been about 1862. It further
states that there she married Jacob Flury. They went onto live in Elkhart County
/indiana until fter their first child( a son named Henry Phillip Flury was born
in 1848) then they moved to Cass County Michigan.

What I would love to learn is a couple of things:

1) Are the two Catherine's the same person. They seem to be.

2) About Jacob, are the two different documents on the same person? What about
him?

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Bob
