Hi All:
I was lazy and forgot to read all of Eva Grace’s two column obituary titled "Dies Enroute To Hospital." I just reread all of it and noticed that I missed a few things. From my wife and my research we know that the Kump family, in Franklin Twp., Adams Co., were members of various Protestant denominations.
I don’t believe that Eva Grace [Sturtz] Shultz was a Catholic by birth. It’s possible that Charles Shultz, her husband, was. Her remains were sent to St. Francis Xavier Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. But both Eva Grace and Charles were buried in Flohr’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, a non Catholic cemetery. It is unusual for a Catholic not to be buried in a Catholic cemetery but as I noted in another email Flohr’s is loaded with Kumps and their decendents.
I also noticed that Eva Grace [Sturtz] Shultz had two Sisters: Mrs. Florence (Flora?) Byers, Waynesboro and Mrs. Catherine Ayers, Philadelphia
It would appear that there were three sister, not just two, who were orphaned.
After I send this I have a little more research to do…
