Hello Everyone,

We are looking for the father of Charles Cogley Spottswood. He was born ca 1824 in Gettysburg, Adams Co. PA.

In 1826 in the Gettysburg Centinal in the April 12th Edition there was an artical about an Adrew Polly Sen. deceased and the will there of. It mentions Jacob Spotswood marrying an Elizabeth Cooghenour along with Joseph Miller Cogley who married Eliza Cooghenour(Coughenour). And a brother John Cooghenour marrying a Catherine Cooghenour(Coughenour). We think that they were all cousins, but don't know of this for sure.
However, Charles Cogley Spottswood was raised by the Joseph Miller Cogley and either Elizabeth or his second wife Sarah Friedly. We haven't for the last couple of years been able to put a father/mother to Charles so we need some help. We know that Joseph Miller Cogley was an uncle and probably by marriage to his mother's sister. But for some reason nothing comes up.
The only one that we get is a John and a Mary Dandridge but they aren't the right ones.
There was a Jacob born to a Lindsey Spotswood, but he was born in 1818 (Jacob was) in Carlisle, PA. And would have only been 8 years old at the time that the artical was written. Much too young to have a son born in 1824.
