Steve,
I see this is your first posting on Rootsweb. When you post, it is very important to provide some information on the persons you seek. Their date of birth is always helpful. This helps to eliminate one person/family from another, and to also give a time reference on who you are researching. Example, if you are researching the
Crawley family that lived in
Carlton last year, in the 1960's, or even back to the 1860's. If you don't have the
DOB, a time-frame, approximate dates will help. Identify where they were born, parents, children, siblings, etc. Find a
Crawley family becomes easier when a first name and their information is known, then going back in time or forward in time is easier. It is also easier going back in time from the 1930 census, than it is to track family today. Oregon also has laws protecting us from learning about people by liminting access to death records to 50 years before death, and 100 years from the time of birth. (Do something about that
Oregon). Obituaries can help find family; but you need to know when they died.
Here is a website that can help in posting:
http://www.tedpack.org/goodpost.htmlThe 1930 Census had an Audrey
Crawley, in
Yamhill Co, born about 1912, living as a boarder.
The 1920 Census had James and Clara living in Amity, two children, Marena and Hazel.
The
Oregon Death Index 1903-1998 had 39
Crawley, only one lived in
Yamhill county, a Clayton Melvin
Crawley, died 3 August 1988.
