Funeral Rites Held For Leonard
SampleLeonard
Sample, a native of Milton-Freewater, died Saturday afternoon, June 7, in a
Walla Walla hospital following a long illness. He was 55 years old.
Sample was born in Milton August 7, 1896, and had lived here most of his life. He had been employed by the city of Milton for 25 years, most of that time as distribution Superintendent and line foreman. He was also chief of the fire department for 12 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Sample leaves two survivors- his widow, Myrtle of Milton-Freewater, and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Daughterty, also of Milton Freewater.
Funeral service were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from
Munselle Chapel. Chaplain Lawrence
Cousins of
Walla Walla officiating. Interment was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Out of town relatives here for the funeral were: an uncle, Delbert
Rector of St. Mary’s Ida.; Mr. And Mrs. Miles
Sparger of Seaside
Ore., Mr. and Mrs. Will
McEachern of Roseburg; and Mrs. Agnes
Hamley of Waitsburg. The latter three ladies are sisters of Mrs. Sample.
