Mary L. Butcher
Mary L. Butcher, adored aunt, friend and mentor, "Auntie Sadie" to Don, Jim, Lori, Deb, Janice and Doug, beloved by George Boulter and Katy, and adopted mom to legions, died in Portland on Nov. 28. She was 82.
Mary was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Anton and Mary (Posnick) Kowbel.
Her expansive love, sense of humor, energy, generosity and spirit inspired those who knew her.
An enthusiast of football, crosswords, cars and music, she embraced life with gusto.
An accountant in her working life, Mary established her own business and continued to care for her clients long after "retirement."
She freely lent her skills to community events, and her heart to those in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Butch" Butcher.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in care of Waud's Funeral Home.
A memorial service was held Dec. 6 at 2:30 p.m. at Netarts Community Center.
