Jeanie Yeats
Jeanie Yeats died peacefully Monday, Oct. 27, surrounded by family in Manzanita.
Born Eugenie Marie LeRoss to Otis and Nora (Denovan) LeRoss on Aug. 26, 1922, Jeanie became an accomplished violinist, giving her first concert at 6 years of age. She enjoyed performing in community playhouses well into her adult life, and never was there a Christmas without the sounds of her singing songs on the piano. Jeanie worked in the hospitality industry, often as an amazing waitress who would never tolerate bad service. She took those same values to the many years of volunteer work that she gave to the Portland Police Bureau and as a senior companion.
Most important in her life was being surrounded by friends and family, who remember her as being loving and extremely generous. She believed in the evolution of the soul and that she would be greeted by her many loved ones already on the other side.
She is survived by her sons, James, Michae and Patrick Yeats; her daughter, Debbie Harmon; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and her cat, Cleo.
A memorial service will be Friday Nov. 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Vancouver Vineyards Church in Vancouver, Wash. Arrangements are in the care of Waud's Funeral Home.
