Darlene Thiesies

DALLAS — Darlene Thiesies, 69, died Thursday of cancer. (Polk Co.)

Born, raised and educated in Salem, she graduated from Salem High School and moved to the Salt Creek area of Dallas. She was an artist and art teacher in public schools and colleges. She married Donald; he died in 1996.

Survivors include his daughter, Conie Stanley of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Roger Thiesies of Marion, Ill.; brother, Richard Engdahl of Diamond Bar, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Dec. 9 at Salt Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Contributions: the church, care of the mortuary.

Hi--I am a member of Salem First Baptist and we are trying to find out how to request permission to use some of the artwork Darlene Thiesies did for our church. We are celebrating our 150th anniversary and want to use the work she did for us, but cannot find who to ask permission of!
