According to the obit, Sadie was born in Ireland and emmigrated first to England. I thought maybe the Anderson's were from her first marriage to an unknown Anderson. It would be nice to know her maiden name. It would help to track her, perhaps finding her in the Ellis Island records, since according to the obit, she came to the US about 1912.

This is my guy. I am excited. I didn't think so at first but it mentions his sister Lena Lage so i know it is the right Gustave.

Both obits mentions a son William Anderson (their name was Peters. The 1920 census shows them in Oregon with two children James and Marguerite Peters. Perhaps they were not Sadie's children and she was married before and had a son William Anderson. But Sadie was from Scotland and the census record show the children's mother was from Scotland.

Oh so many puzzles in genealogy.

SADIE LOU PETERS

A Portland resident for 47 years, Sadie Lou Peters, 84, died Tuesday in a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 3 P.M. Friday at Rose City Park United Presbyterian Church, with private entombment in Rose City Cemetery.
Mrs. Peters was born February 24, 1887 in Parkmore, County Antrim, Ireland. She was educated at Florence Nightingale nursing school in England, and came to the United States 59 years ago.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Kellogg Chapter No. 157; Order of Amaranth, Mt. Hood Court, No. 3; Oregon White Shrine; and Rebekah Vernon Lodge, 219. She is survived by a son, Jim Anderson, and two daughters, Nan Anderson and Marguerite Hager, all of Portland, 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Ross Hollywood Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral will be Friday at 2:30 P.M. at Ross Hollywood Chapel.
A native of Rock Island, Ill., he was born May 30, 1883, and came to Portland 42 years ago. Mr. Peters was a member of Harmony Lodge no. 12 AF&AM; IOOF, Alberta Lodge; Oregon White Shrine; Past Patron of Kellog Chapter, No. 157 OES; Mt. Hood Court No. 3 O & A, and Rose Park Presbyterian Church. Harmony Lodge No. 12 will participate in the funeral service.
Mr. Peters is survived by the widow, Sadie Lou; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Anderson, Mrs. Marguerite Jones; one son, William E. Anderson, all of Portland; One sister, Mrs. Lena Lage, Lake Park, Iowa, nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Private Commitment will be at Riverview Abbey.

He was a joiner of fraternal societies, wasn't he!

I am trying to determine Gustave is the Peters I have been looking for. An obit might tell me.

2 ACCIDENTS IN ONE HOUR
IDAHO WOMAN HAS DISTRESSING RIDE

Moscow, Idaho, July 28- Being thrown through the windshields of two different automobiles within an hour was the distressing experience of Mrs. Thomas Balderson near here recently.
The first accident occured when the car in which she was riding was forced into a stump by another car which crowded it from the road. Mrs. Balderson was cut painfully about the face when she went through the windshield.
The second accident occured on the way to the hospital in a borrowed car. On making turn on the road, this car collided with another and Mrs. Balderson was again thrown forward through the plate glass. Her wounds were bleeding profusely when medical aid was finally secured.

Let's hear it for seatbelts!

I also found another article about the annual "Redhead Roundup" in Taft (on the Oregon Coast, now part of Lincoln City). J.F. Balderson, age 77 of Portland won the prize for the oldest redhead present. This was in the Oregonian August 4, 1941. It's amazing what you learn about your state, doing these searches!

Ivy was born in Hay Lakes, Alberta Canada 20 Dec 1934. She is shown in the "Border Crossings" database on Ancestry several times. the crossing in 1952 shows her residence as Rainier Oregon. One of the records shows her parents as "Ferdinand and Mary" and lists a sister: Mrs Emil Zurowsky, Huntingdon, B.C. Another record says mother "Mary M" Brother Gordon, sister Inez and she was going to her Aunt, Mrs. Wm Zimmerman, R1, Box 237, Ranier, Ore.

I have seen the marrigae to Ivy Welke and the other one but not the one in east Wenatchee. Thank you. I'm nervous as heck with no DOB or social it's scary to ask hey are you my dad or you could be my dad. The out pour of leads and support brings tears to my eyes.

Yes I have and without a date of birth or social security number I haven't had any luck. My mom Barbara and step dad are both deceased and my understanding is that my adoption papers were sealed. My adoption took place in Portland Or.His name (Royce) is NOT mentioned on my birth certificate. Sometimes I think I'm not ment to know. But thanks any way.

It turns out that the Bernhard Thorso I found is not the right guy.
Also I have been in contact with the Oregon State Archives. They have not found him in any of their indexed archives. But they said that he might be found in the assessment rolls, but they need to be researched at their archives in Portland.

So if anyone is stopping by there and have the time to take a look I would be very happy.

My name is Crystal,I'm looking for my blood father, his name is Royce Dwight Lowe. I was born to Barbara L Hunt april 1954 In Portland Or. My adopted fathers name is A Eugene Ballard.They put an add in the Origonian Newspaper. He dated my mom Barbara when she lived in vernonia Or. and graduated from Vernonia union High School in 1953.I know that he owned property in Hood River Or. some time ago. I don't have a date of birth for Royce nor do I have a social security number.This is all the information I have other than a possible maiden name for his mother Beermyere,Beermeier somthing to that effect. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Can any lister help me locate an obit for this man-buried in Lincoln Memorial Pk ? He was a gold miner in Alaska and then ran a commercial laundry in Fairbanks for a while. I dont know when he died in 1925. He was about 61 at time of death.

Ralph is pictured in the Torque, yearbook of the 43-J training class of flight cadets at Pecos Army Air Field. He is a flight cadet in Squadron 10. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching the family.

I am no where near Portland, nor do I know anyone there that would take a photo for you. Your best bet is to go to his memorial on Find A Grave and request a photo:

Do you know a Terry K. Calander or are a family relation of him? He was born June 15, 1944 at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, Portland, OR. His original birth certificate, complete with baby footprints, was recently found by someone and they would like to have it returned to him or a relation. You can contact the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and tell them you are inquiring about his birth certificate.

Hello, Arlene. I am Maryann's daughter; Mary Stricker Sands was my mat. grandmother.

In documents I have found, Rosenberg, Russia is listed as birthplace for both Alexander Stricker and Susanna HildermaNN Stricker. (2 N's per their marriage certificate)

Eva Stricker Rau Fritzler told me in 1999 that the reason they left Russia, like so many other Volga Germans, was the rescinding of the Germans' tax-free and military draft-free statuses. "They did not want to fight in the Czar's army," Eva said.

I have an Anna Reidel Hamberger, dtr of Joseph Reidel and wife Anna Mayenkofen Reidel. Anna Reidel Hamberger was born in Germany and died in 1902 in Saginaw, MI. She is buried in Calvary Cemetary there.
My grandmother was Anna's half sister. I have more info and photos if this is the same family; pretty sure it is.

My name is Bonnie Frobel Weant. My grandmother, Elizabeth (Elsie) Gromes married a Frobel and lived in Binghamton, Ny.
