SCHLAPPIE PEARSON

I am searching for information on the Schlappie family (Multnomah County) and or Pearson family. Arthur Schlappie married Daisy Pearson, a Nehalem Tillamook(Oregon coast) Native American woman. Daisy's mother was Clara Pearson. Some of the Schlappie family attended the Chemawa Indian Boarding School in Salem, Oregon. If anyone can help I would truely appreciate it.

I, too, am researching Daisy Schlappie for a biography of Clara Pearson. Daisy was the daughter of Charles (A.?) Seaman and Clara Seaman, born about 1891 or 1892. Clara and Charles were divorced and Daisy and her siblings lived with Seaman and his new wife, Virginia--see the US Census records for 1900. Clara eventually married Francis Pearson about 1900. Would like to talk with you in person or by e-mail.

I am the great granddaughter of Daisy, my grandfather was one of her six children. My grandfather passed away many years ago,Lloyd Schlappie, so much information has been lost. There are other Schlappie's that I can contact who may remember the history.

I forgot to add that the Schlappie family still resides in Multnomah county. They have been in the area for over 50 years. You might be able to locate some through the phone book. My Grandfather was a son to Arthur and Daisy. His name is Lloyd Schlappie.

My great grandmother was Daisy Schleppy or Schlappie from Tillamook, Oregon. She married Donald A. Rossall. She was a native American woman, this is all I know. She is the mother of Florence Rossall, my mother. Any info appreciated Michelle Pealer

My name is Michelle Pealer. Daisy Schlappie was my grandmother. The circumstances are sketchy and I need answers from family members. My mother, Florence Rossall Pealer, was the only child of Daisy Schlappie and Donald Rossall. She had a husband and other children. I don't know if they were married. Shortly after my mothers birth, her father took her to Missouri. He returned to Oregon and she grew up close to Daisy and her grandmother Clara Pearson never knowing who they were.

I will ask about these family members of yours. The Schlappie's are my in-laws. Please write to me, Ava at Avajill@aol.com if you do not hear from me soon. Make sure in the subject line to put Schlappie Pearson or I will not respond. Sincerely, Ava

Virtually everything I know about Clara Pearson appears in a book I edited recently: Elizabeth D. Jacobs' *The Nehalem Tillamook: An Ethnography* (Corvallis, OR: Oregon State University Press, 2003). See especially pages 47-52. This book can be purchased on-line from Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble.com. I mention Daisy Seaman Schlappie in the book but know very little about her life. Daisy applied for enrollment in the 1950s (which was denied) and her application materials can be found at the National Archives and Records Administration, Pacific Alaska Region, Seattle. Her application contained genealogical material re. the Schlappies (spelled different ways in different documents.)
