My Aunt Lida Nickell m Tilman Rains in 1903 in Gates,Marion Co,Ore. They had one son--Daniel James Rains b abt 1906 in Ore. They later divorced and Tilman was given custody of Daniel who later died of appendicitis around 1918. Hope to find out where he would be buried. They were divorced in South Bend, Pacific Co. WA. in 1913.

The Oredon death index has his date of death as 2/11/1960 in Linn Co, OR with a wife named Sarah. Certificate #1847. In the 1900 census he is living in Breitenbush, Marion Co, OR, single, as a logging employee with a birthdate of Jan 1877. He was born in OR and his father was born in MO and his mother in KY. Do you know who his parents were? I am interested in the Rains and Cox families of Marion Co, OR.

My Aunt Lida Nickell married Tilman Rains in Gates or Mill City ,Ore. They moved up to Paciic Co. and lived near PeEll , WaTheyy owned property in that area. They divorced and he returned to Ore. with his son. His so died of appendicitis on Sept. 4 1918 in Oregon.I don't have any info about the parents. But the Nickell family origonally came from Kentucky,Akansas,Oklahoma and then to Mill City,Ore. It is possible that they knew the Rains family before that.

I have a copy of a cemetery book from Gates, Oregon (Linn County) It lists the death of Tilmon Rains on Feb. 11. 1960 at his home in Gates. His son Daniel James Rains was born in 1905 and died Sept. 4, 1918 at the age of 13. He is also buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Gates. There is other info. listed, let me know if you would like to have it.

Tilman Rains' parents were Daniel Raines & Sarah Martha Briley. His mother died the day he was born. Tilman's last wife (presumed to be his second) was Mrs. Sarah Cline.
