I live in Deschutes county and am ordering some Norwegian records later on this week. I'm hoping to find someone that can help me translate them over a cup of coffee, dinner...whatever you're comfortable with. Please contact me via email or through this post. Thanks!!

Hi Elisa,
If you haven't found someone try contacting the Deschutes County Historical Society, Genealogical Committee, Idaho and Wall Street, Bend, 541-389-1813.

Also the Oregon State University Cascade Campus or the Central Oregon Community College. Successful Searching!

Hej Elisa,

I would suggest you subscribe to the Norway List. It is an email based board with LOTS of help. There are hundreds of persons all across the country, and of course in Norway. You can get information on the list via:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~norway/NorwayList.htm

Once you subscribe you can post an inquiry as to local area Norwegian speakers.

The Website "meetup . Com" has many meeting groups for Norwegian:

I don't know what records you have ordered, but if you are obtaining Norwegian Parish records, emigration records, etc, you can obtain many of them online via the Norwegian Digital archives.

I do have some links in English that explains how to use this magnificant record source.
