Iam a grand daughter of Hamilton thru his son Robert. I don't have much on the Millers. They are the only line I have not proved. Oral history says they where Scot Irish. Very early into Ohio. I don't know whether anyone can help me with this or direct me to where I might find the explanation.

My grandfather went to OSA in 1903. I have an article with photos entitled "It seems like yesterday at Oregon State.

There is a photo (football) with my grandfather in it. The caption to this photo reads "The "Townies" took over when the 1903 Regents said no football." There is a man that is holding the football and in big letters it say on the ball TF.

Now I know that prior to 1903 my grandfather played football.

What I am trying to determine is what this was all about.

Hopefully someone out there has some information.

This is my Ida. She would have been my great grandmother. Lorna was my Grandmother and her son, David is my father. I remember being a very small child and visiting the mine at Gold Hill. Archie was very old and we went into the mine with a canary. There were bottles in the windowsill in the kitchen with gold flakes & nuggets. There was a hand pump in the kitchen at the sink. Ida had already died at this point. The kids all called her Nana. Ida & Hubert Hodes owned the Hodes trading post in Corvallis. She also owned the Redwood Hotel at one time. Her second husband was Frank Silver. Ida & Hubert Hodes adopted Lorna from the Waverly Baby Home in Portland, OR. I hope this interests you guys. I would love to talk more. Looks like I read your last post first. I do remember a name
but it was Archie Bell ? That must be the right person. As I was not born until 1940 and I remember things my mom told me and a few of my own memories. I don't remember any man being present when we were there.Her name was Ida,so I would imagine that the spelling got lost in translation somewhere. If you are interested, you can go to my tree The Phoenix. I was going to delete it, but if it helps you any,I can send an invitation to be a guest.Also,there were several sisters and the parents came from Germany.

My Aunt Ida was the one born in Wisconsin, she was born a Kielblock, my mom was a good friend of Lornas.I would bet both neckless and watch would run in the 6 figure area if not more. Both Hubert and Ida were pretty hefty.

I am not sure if you made these earlier posts, but it looks like Hubert Hodes died in 1921. Some researchers say she then married Frank Silver, in Clark County Washington. (the marriage license lists his wife as Eda Hodes, of Cook County, Illinois)He died in 1934.
She then may have married Arthur Bell, does that sound correct? Then they lived in Grants Pass? There is an Archie Bell buried in Grants Pass, at www.findagrave.com, and his wife is listed as Eda Amelia Bell. Is that your Ida, or have the two Hodes women become confused?

They may have had property in Grants Pass, Josephine County, but it looks like they lived in Corvallis, Benton County. There were two Ida Hodes. The first was born in California about 1884-1885, and her husband's name was Clemmens. He was a grocery clerk.
The other Ida was born in Wisconsin 1879-1880 and her husband was Hubert, he was listed as a sporting goods dealer. They had a daughter Lorna, born about 1909.
Which one was your Aunt Ida?
I wonder how much that necklace would be in today's prices?!

Aunt Ida Lived in Grants Pass From approx 1919 at the latest to the time she died I think. There was a creek running behind the house. You entered thru tge front doot into a small living room, and from there went thru a doorway (no door) into a sunny small kitchen with a small kitchen table.
I believe there was a small garage in the back yard which was off set from the left of the house. They had a gold mine
called T Jump Off Joe. And Aunt Ida Had a Neckless of large gold Nuggets. I can't for the life of me remember Uncles name, However I understood he had quite a large belly, and had a watch fob of giant Nuggets which draped across a great expanse to reach his pocket and hold his watch. I guess they had property in Gold Hill. I think my mom and dad .Bought some of it, and we had a cabin there for summers
when I was about 12.

Please contact me if you have genealogical information on the family of Lewish Smith, married to Josie F. Smith (Painter). They married in Corvallis in August, 1923, and lived in Beaverton OR after 1925 until Lewis died in 1972.

I believe Lewis is a lonbg lost cousin of mine.
