Hi! My name is Lindsay Smart (maiden name Hunt). My grandfathers name was James 'Bud' Alan Hunt. He was married to Melba Brown. He passed away in 2004. He grew up in the ardmore/lone grove area and I'm pretty sure his parents did as well. I don't know if I'm related to any of you guys, but it would be cool if I were and could find out more about the Hunt side. I'm at a stand still with my grandfather.

Since only initials were used on this marriage record I can't be sure this is Samuel William Henslee, but there is a good possibility that it is. Found at the following link, Chickasaw Nation Marriage Records, 1895-1907.

http://www.okgenweb.org/~okgarvin/kinard/chicmarriageindex.h...

S. W. Henslee, age 25, married Annie O. Gibson, age 17, on 23 June 1897. His address is shown as Purcell, her address is shown as Erin Springs.

I am looking for any info on their whereabouts prior to the 1900 census.

I believe they were living in the Chickasha Nation still, but cannot find them on any census or rolls that I am aware of.
Both of her parents were born in AL and another researcher of the Lawson line has notes on a Phillips family in Ellis Co. TX in 1900. Miriam Phillips, widowed, with four children. One is an Ola Phillips but she was born in 1886 in TN. That would be too young and my Ola Phillips is married in OK by 1900. But I believe this may be some of her family.
Two children followed in the 1900s - Esther and John. Only recently discovered these 5 children as the family myth in the UK was that his line had died out. Mona died in the 1980s, but what happened to the other four and any descendants?

SHOT IN THE DARK!
Hi, Ii know that this is a stretch but I found some commonalities in your thread. My grandfather b. 4/24/1885, (3 records of first name) "Eiite", "Elta" & finally "Teddy" - "Mcveigh" Watt. He was adopted by the Joseph Watt family in Berrien Co., Michigan. No record of where his birth family originated. One daughter was named Sylvia & another relative that stayed with his family was named Maggie. Do you have any record of any Mcveigh family having given up their child for adoption. Most adoption were done by relatives - even over great distances. It was believed they lived in Ohio or on east side of Michigan?
I ahve not been able to find any Watt - McVeigh family links. I can only draw at straws at this point.

Paul Watt, Sr.

Good Morning,

The best thing to do is work backwards from what you do know. I went to ancestry and plugged in Harry Rushing and found in the 1930 census a Harry Rushing who was born to Laura and Jim Rushing abt 1913 in Sandy Ridge NC. Looking at the record, I also see another son James. It states that Laura is 43 at time of census. Could this be them?

In the NC birth Index there is a Harry Rushing b. 1912 to a James Rushing - no mother listed.

Was Laura's husbands name James? Is Harden her maiden name? Do you know when Laura married her husband and where? If so start with census material for that location. Where is she buried? Look for an obit in that area, or if you know where she died look for one there. If you know the cemetery, contact them, many times they have more information on the person(s) buried there, perhaps they can give you the name of the funeral home who handled the details. Funeral homes many times have names of parents and descendants.

Rene'
board administrator

I'm the daughter of Clare Leathers Butler, and granddaughter of Frank and Minnie Butler. I just recently joined up here to do some research on my tree, and I can't find anything about Abiah's parents. If you could steer me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Also, I was totally unaware of the OK Land Rush connection, and would love to know more about it. Please feel free to contact me if you get a chance. Thanks!
Zora Donnelly

Hi,
My name is Christina Siceloff and I am looking for information regarding my great grandmother named Zora (Marie)? Donnelly. She was born in Oklahoma and I think if I recall correctly was part of the indian tribe that had or has a reservation there. I don't know her birthday but her daughters birthday (my grandmother) was in 1927 and her name was Mary Louise Eads. Zora had married Walter Dillard Eads and they had quite a few kids together. If you have any info into who her parents were, her birthday, or any other info about Zora please let me know, I have been searching for a long time and I am having a hard time finding anything on her probably cause she was in the indian tribe. Email is better to contact me and that address is csiceloff85@yahoo.com. I will try and check my messages on here also but I don't know how to use this thing that greatly so get back to me as easily as you can. Thanks so very much.

Arizona Ruth & Bill Barks

I'm trying to track down my husband's family on his mother's side and am at a dead end. His mother, Billye Kayleen Barks, passed away on September 18, 1997 in Missouri. She was born on March 9, 1955 in Oklahoma (don't know where). I can find her SS death record but no birth record. My husband wasn't close w/her or her family, so dosen't know much about them. Her parents names (he's pretty sure) were Arizona Ruth & Bill Barks. I can't find anything about either one of them. I was hoping to find Kayleen's birth record, which would list her parents properly. Does anyone know how I could get this info? Thanks so much!!
