I would like any information on a young Indian man named Joshua GIVENS. He was a interpetour for the Rev. Fait at the mission east of Anadarko. I do not know which tribe he was from , possibly the Wichita. He married a white lady
named Mabel REDFIELD and they had two children. He died before 1903 and Mabel in her will dated 1903 asked that his body be moved to their homestead north of Verden and be reburied by their daughter. What happened to their only son Orrin GIVENS? Mabel, in the will, named Meta CHESNUTT as guardian of Orrin GIVEN age 11 in 1903. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

South of Hydro in Caddo County, Oklahoma stood a post office and general store called Exendine. I believe the proprietor was Jasper. My great grandfathers homestead was nearby and all their mail went through Exendine. The building is no longer there, it's all farmland nowadays. My grandfather wrote a book in his later years and it mentions Exendine quite often.

They were married 22 Nov 1904 in Frio County, Texas and their 3 oldest children, Winnie 20 Sept 1905, Wayne 24 Feb 1907, and Elane 9 Mar 1909 were born in Frio County. Sometime before 1911 they moved to Caddo county, OK. Their last 5 children Wade 12 May 1911, Connie 7 Jan 1914, Waymund 15 Apr 1917, Raymund 1 Oct 1919 and Armetta 23 Dec 1921 were born in Caddo County. Connie was my aunt's mother-in-law. The family tradition says that Connie had Native American blood but no one seems to know which nation. Any information that anyone can share on this family would be greatly appreciated. Connie Bond Helm passed away 27 Nov 1998 in Sun Valley, Los Angeles County, California. Have information on descendants that I am willing to share.

I am looking for more information about my g-g-grandmother Marie LA FITTE EDWARDS DAVIS. According to family legends, she was the daughter of Jacques LA FITTE, the privateer, and an unknown Caddo woman. Marie married a Mr. EDWARDS, who may have been a plantation owner. She had 2 little boys at the time that she was forced from her home in Louisiana, unable to contact her husband, and made to walk the trail of tears. One of the boys died on the trail. When she arrived in Indian Territory, she began a new life, in a new home. Shortly thereafter, she was moved again, in this second place she met Judge DAVIS (Caddo), whom she married and with whom she had Sarah, my great-grandmother. They were soon moved into a stockade, where Apache renegades outside the stockade provided for those inside by throwing the kills from their hunts over the stockade walls by night. This is all I know of Marie LA FITTE. Any information verifying or discrediting any part of this legend would be much appreciated.

I am writing to request any information on Jasper Exendine.
His Indian name was Kunyier. I have looked on your web site and I am trying to find any information I can on this man. He owned some land in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1898. He was a member of the Delaware Tribe and reverted his membership to the Caddo Tribe. I am not sure of the county. I just know it was in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I would greatly appreciate any free information you could send me. Thank You, Becky Rush
