Hi Brian,

I hope all is well on your end. I've recently started researching about my Great Grandmother who was full blood Black Creek Indian from AL. All I know is her name was Nancy and she married into Stallworth. Annoying thing is I can't seem to find her. If you could email me your whole list I'd greatly appreciate it. loveleik@gmail.com
-Jamora R.

Hello,

I just uncovered a wealth of information. I have two accounts and my other account is just ieshamci. The real deal is located on my other account. I just stumbled on this site because of the message board title"Creek Nation."

Sarah McIntosh
Benj McIntosh
George McIntosh
Gould McIntosh
Rena McIntosh
Lewis McIntosh

just to name a few are all relatives of my family and I found evidence that they were Indians that eventually moved to Indian territory in Oklahoma. also, discovered that they were Muskogee Indians. In some records they record them as black, mulatto and/or white.

Hello Kathy,
I know that my Great-Grandfather's Mother name was Sarah McIntosh and his father's name was Benjamin McIntosh. I also know that Jim Brown is a cousin of mine though distant. My great-grandfather's name was William McIntosh and he was born December 25, between 1914 and 1917... And he was the youngest of four children: Rosa-lee, Josephine, and Benjamin. I also know that my great grandfather sold his land before he died. But I have a cousin named Crystal McIntosh who still possess land in St. Simon Island, Georgia . I will be in touch as I uncover more and more info. My cousin Crystal knows a lot more and I need to contact her for more details.

Iesha McIntosh

I don,t know who you are, but my Grandfather had alot of family. As a young child growing up on the Sands Springs line, my family had a small house along with lots of relatives. My best knowledge of my Grandfather, is with my brother Sam and I. I was maybe 3 or 4 years old and Sam maybe 8. I would comb my Grandfathers hair and he would sing to me in Creek langauage. He would say thats enough little girl. Sam has memorys of picking bones out of his leg for maybe a nickle!.. My Grandfather did not die at that age and he was a great indian! Read Oklahoma Cronicles for more information about him!

Hi,

While interviewing my aunt about family history, she mentioned that her father told her that his mother was Black Creek Indian. Her mother was full blood Indian and her father was a black man. I have only my great-grandmother's name: Nancy Carr and she was born around 1866. I can only find her on the 1910 and 1920 census in Mississippi, under her married name of Pruitt. I do not find her in Mississippi before 1910 (under Pruitt or Carr). I don't have any other information because everyone from my grandfather's generation is passed away. I could kick myself for not starting earlier as my grandfather lived to be 103 yrs and now I have no idea of how to research this. I would love some pointers on where to start.

Thank you,
Amy Cole

Rose,
Go to this site: http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/finalroll.php
and do a seach on your surnames. You will find both Melton and Walton listed on the last page of each as Creek and as Freedmen. Freedmen were the former black slaves of the Creek. This scenario seems to fit into your family so perhaps we finally have a grandmother who is correct!
The only way you'll know whether you connect to any of these names though is to do your genealogy backwards, starting with yourself and connecting each generation (parents, grandparents, ggrandparents, etc.) through actual records, i.e. birth, death, marriage, census, etc.
If you have any further questions, I'll try to answer them or I'm sure someone else will.
Nan

My grandmother is convinced we are part creek, but finding any record if this has not been easy. Mind you I don't even know where to start. All I have is a family tree that she wrote down tracing the family from Canada back to Oklahoma, Georgia and Louisiana Specifically in Guthrie and Okfuskee. Some peices of paper with United States Department of the Interior Indian Services in Muskogee Oklahoma. While doing some reading I realized that tracing my black history to my Native American history may be impossible. I don't have a certain name of anyone just the family names Walton and Melton. Any help or tips would be much appreciated. Being Canadian I'm not familiar with American history or records. Thank you!
Thank you so much I have located the census that lists their parents and although it's not the one you refer to it's got all the uncles and aunts correct - the variance on Adeline’s name must be either an error or an intentional change. I could not have figured out the Great Great's without you yea! I feel like I have accomplished something
So next step is to define the dates; which I should easily be able to do with the census date.

PS Annie or Anna Horner is listed on the Cherokee rolls, I think she listed all alone. The Parris were Cherokees and lived around Peggs and Glenpool area. Many are buried in the Blue Springs cemetery and others at the Twin Mounds Pioneer Cemetery. I have had some luck tracking this line through others on ancestory. com but I really like seeing documentation or being able to rattle off the names to the elders and having them confirm. But they can only go back to great great relatives if that. Once again many thanks
You have a great day sincerely, Oquilla of Bonnie Bruner
Adeline Flanders #2087 bn abt 1868: her father is listed as Edward Flanley, not Flanders. Adeline had a brother named William #758 bn 1873 who married Anna Childers, a Seminole. William will be found on the Seminole list w/ Anna #1191.
These are the only names of Flanders / Flanley that I have came across during my searches.
Horner: When I attended Jones Academy, Hartshorne, Oklahoma, - I had a second or third grade teacher last name Horner (late 1940s). I have only came across one Horner (male)who resided in the Holdenville, Oklahoma area (my home town). - no others.
Paris: I have not came across this name in all of my searches yet.
Billie and Annie Horner: It's hard to really decipher names when there are no approxmates birth dates; - of the children listed, only a Billy and a Bunnie are found amongst the Bruners, - which basically means that they (the others) were not present when the rolls were being made or that they had moved out of Indian country, or that their family did not care to enroll them (many didn't get enrolled) It is really helpful if searchers would give approximate birth dates or locations.
Billy's father : may have been a Loney 1816 - - Loney's ancestors (Loney / Looney / Luna): (these are just a guess from previous names and dates): his father may have been another Loney 1862--1882?, a child of the oldest Daniel. Loney's 1862-82 children might have included a Daniel born 1810 and George W. born 1812 and your Loney born about 1816.
There is a Luna listed (who might have been Loney) whose wife was a young female named Rachel 1846 (last name unknown) and their son was named Richard, born about 1866.

I'm trying to follow your notes on Billy Bruner wife Adaline Flanders. Note on Adaline: within others trees have indicated Mnk as Adaline's first name and there are descendants in the Ellis line with the "Mnk" name so there may be some truth to the entries. Adaline was a full blood Creek and my Great Grandfather Billy Bruner was 3/4 creek. I'm trying to find out who their parents were. I'm not sure if the parents are in our family cemetery but will have someone check. I come from Loney Bruner and Annie Horner Bruner; of Cale B. Horner and Minnie Parris. Loney was one of Billy and Adaline's sons.
Loney and Annie Bruner had the following children
•	Billy
•	Bonnie
•	Betty
•	Joann
•	Adaline
•	Bunnie - (we call him Uncle Tut)
The living members of the family listed above have remained on the original allotments Between Beggs and Bixby in Oklahoma .These are the first cousins of A.D. Ellis the recent past Creek Nation Chief

Any information or research tips would be greatly appreciated. I see your possibilities for Billy's parents
How can I find information on Adaline Flanders? I have recently posted a photo of Adaline, Billy's wife and their son Loney and daughter in law Annie Horner If anyone is in need of them and cannot view them I would be happy to email them. Or if anyone else has additional photos of this family please email to ojones1956@gmail.com Be sure to enter a subject "Bruner Picture". Also looking for Photos of Cale B Horner of John Polk Horner and Minnie Parris of Zachary Taylor Parris.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Granddaughter of Loney and Annie Bruner
Oquilla
typhoon5

The Creek People have a long, and well documented history.
There is no tribe known as "Blackcreek".

As both your father and grandfather are deceased, then it might be an idea to begin looking at your family history by obtaining their death certificates, obituaries, and their original SS Applications.
This will provide you with additional information to enable to go back another generation.
Your recent ancestors are documented in the Federal Census.

It is only by following the documented history of your ancestors that you will discover who they were, and where they were from.
However, as I know from my own experience, tracing one's African (Slave) ancestors does present some dificulties.

Tanzania was, I believe, created relatively recently (1964 ?) and I also believe the importation of Africans ended in the early 1800's.

Both the Cherokee and Creek Nations that flourished in the southeast were forced to cede their homelands in the early 1800's. Again, there is abundant documented history on this.

The Brighton Reservation is part of the Seminole Nation.

Kathy Roberts
VA

Hello. My name is Fred Mathis 4th. My Great Grandfather's name was Fred Mathes (with an "e"). He was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma. I will have to talk to my grandfather Fred Mathis, Jr. to see if he knows his grandparents' names; however, from what my grandfather told me, he dad was Creek Indian and his primary language was Creek. He said his father spoke it fluently but did not learn how to write English until after he was married. The thing that concerns me is that mt grandfather said his dad never talked much of his parents. Any advice?
Well Unfortunately my father John-Wesley Michael Harrison Sr. died many years ago So did my Grandfather Fredrick William Harrison (his father) Who was of course married to my Grandmother Lucy Buc or Now Harrison Not sure but I believe they were married in missippi and as a matter of fact they used to talk about my grandFather Fred that he was either wholly or partially cherokee tribe again dates and exact locations are fuzzy the name of the "Reservation I visited was known as the brighton reservation near Okachobee Florida oh the story goes that my grandmother was part of a tribe made up of escaped slaves from Tanzania Africa and Creek Indians ( Native Americans )Hence the name Black Creek. Mrs Maam listen I know the chances of finding out anything at this point is slim and I'm not looking for anything except to know the truth about my folks and the cultures they come from
If in fact the Blackcreek is an actual tribe then the Language would have to be part Creek??? Ok, but those Creek I ran into hated me why?? Now called something else,

Looking for information on the above listed woman. Supposedly a daughter of John "Filitahoma" Homa/Homma and an unknown (to us) Creek woman in Mississippi. Married a James Amos (Choctaw), mother of John, Thomas and Sanders Amos. Thank you.

Thanks for your response. Lula's mother was Precious Moore and may have also gone by the surname Thompson . Lula's father was Rankin Smith. In oral history there isn't any mention of Rankin having Native American history. I noticed on the 1910 Indian Population Census Lula put "unknown" regarding the tribes of her mother and father. I have been told she was mixed with Creek, Cherokee and Chickasaw but that has not been verified. It has been suggested she may have put "unknown" as her parents tribe because if she was of mixed Native American heritage it might be hard to register so she simply put Creek for herself. That is just one possibility. I do have Lula's death certificate. It states Precious was born in Muskogee and Lula was born in Okmulgee. I believe Precious died between 1880-1885. Thank you!!

I was communicating with a Garrett regarding Lily Robert Hanley Blevins that was married to Harvey Blevins and they had two boys Robert Franklin Blevins and William Perry Blevins, they were all Native American. Lily was creek and I'm looking for information on her parents, she my grandmother.Lily and Harvey lived in Pauls Vally Oklahoma.
My dad was Clinton Bedford Sturkie.I did a DNA test and I'm 7% native American all I have to do is trace my direct line?
