Some time in 1825 in Old Creek Nation Ga. amoung other people the Berryhill's and the Derrisaw's (spelled many ways) come to the O.I.T after selling their land and just before the major start of the trail of tears. Rootsweb has some of the letters written about the journey west. These are my decendents. I'm real interested in contacting the Derrisaw's that may be in Oklahoma today and any Bittle's that are related.

Send me an email. I have been in contact with one of the descendents of Berryhill-Self. She is very knowledgable on them. I recently went back home around Mounds Ok and visited the Twin Mounds Cememtery where a lot of Berryhill's and Self were buried. Very well kept and lots of posted history.

Have you been to Mounds,Okla? The Twin Mounds cemetery has some Self's in there. I took pictures while I was there. I haven't scanned them into but will sometime for all to see.

Just found your message. I was suprised to hear about a cemetary in OK with Self's and Berryhill's. I am very interested to find out if some of my family may be in this cemetary. I am a descendant of Susanna "Suky" Berryhill (daughter of John Berryhill and Elizabeth Derisaw).
Susanna Berryhill married Baxter Self, their childeren are William "Buck" Baxter Self, Mahalia Self, Sallie Self, John B. Self, Susanna "Susan" Self, Elizabeth "Betty" Self(my direct line ancestor), and Lucinda "Lucy" Self.
I would love to share any info I have and hear any that you have. Would love to know where the cemetary is located.

Glad to hear from you. The cemetery is online. I don't have the url handy to give to you just now but will find it. I am from the area of Mounds. I went to school at a place called Liberty Mounds which is located just east of the town Mounds. The Twin Mounds Cemetery is north of Mounds Okla. and a little east. It has been restored with lots of history posted. These are some of the people buried there.
