Benjamin Posey is listed as a white or mixed-blood head of
an Indian family in the 1832 census of Creeks in James Islands'
town, near present-day Fredonia, Chambers County, Alabama.
There are also Berryhills listed living next to him. Benjamin,
the son of Nancy Berryhill, married Eliza Berryhill, the
daughter of Thomas Berryhill, in 1825 in Newnan, Georgia. They
left Alabama in 1840 and settled in Nacogdoches County, Texas,
where their oldest daughter, Sarah Ann Posey, married Silas Harrison Barber in 1846. The family lived in
LImestone County, Texas for many years, then moved to the
Creek Nation by 1890. Many relatives buried near Kiefer and also Wagoner. Would like any information on the Silas H. Barber family reunion. Is it still being held?
