Lewis Bruner, according to US Census, was born in Alabama. He does not appear in the 1832 Creek Census, but a Daniel Bruner does appear in Con chartie te in what is now Alabama. Could this be his father? Lewis does appear in the 1860 Census Slave Schedule with two slaves living in the "Creek Nation in the country west of the state of Arkansas."

I have seen a story about his wife, Nannie, that says she was entrusted with the gold of the tribe but lost it and her possessions during a snow storm during her flight to Kansas. Also that when she returned, she and her group settled around Concharty Mountain and was part of establishing the Concharty Mountain Indian Methodist Church. Where was Lewis during all of this? Was he dead? Did he abandon her? Was he in the military during the Civil War? If so, was he a Confederate or a Loyalist?
