I am searching for background on
Polly Shadley, who emigrated in 1837 from
Alabama with husband Alexander
Fitzgerald and daughters Amanda and Sarah Ann. Polly was born around 1805,
Creek by blood, and submitted a bounty claim for land under her maiden name of
Shadley after the death of Alex
Fitzgerald, who served as a bugler under Captain
McIntosh. Polly's daughter Sarah later married William Wesley
Clark, probably in
Arkansas, and had a daughter Mary
Clark, who is my great grandmother. Emigrating with the Fitzgeralds was Amanda
Callahan and her son Samuel B. Callahan, who later became very prominent in the
Creek Nation in Muskogee.
