I would like to find any descendant of CHECARTHA YARGEE and his three wives the MILLIE-NANCY-TALLASEE MCQUEEN. Would also like to find out where the graves were moved to when the area of North Fork Town was being prepared for the lake.

Checartah's wife Nancy is the ancestral line on which I'm working. (I'm confused about the correct spelling)
He died shortly after Civil War as a captain; but I've not found the any of the grave sites. Did the family (earlier) live near Pole Cat Springs in Alabama? Do you know when Checartah & his wives died?

Surnames: Dubois, Gunter and Gantt (Gauntt)
I am interested in the Dubois family that is found in Tallapoosa Co., AL (Barrent and wife Milly). I am particularly interested in the relationship with the Gantt (Gauntt) and Gunter families that originate in Lexington Co., SC.

Apparently, Samuel Dubois (son of Barrent and Milly Dubois) married Ceres Gauntt (daughter of Jacob Gauntt). Their sons Jacob and Alfonso(?) are living in Covington Co., AL by 1880 in the household of William Gunter (my relation).

I've wondered if William Gunter's wife was a Dubois descendant? Her name is Josephine, born abt 1843. Do you recognize any of the children of William and Josephine Gunter?
a. Barto?
b. William
c. Ceres
d. Banks
e. Alden
f. Gertrude

Any help is appreciated.

Mitchell Yerger is half or full brother of my great great grand mother Lucinda Yargee, daughter of NancyMcQueen Yargee, Lucinda was half sister to Muscogee Yargee, daugter of Millie. Muscogee married Joshua Ross, great nephew of Cherokee Chief John Ross,Lucinda married John G. Smith who was 5/8 Creek Baptist missionary and supreme court justice who came over from Alabama during the trail of tears. There is an article in Chronicles of Oklahoma regarding John G. Smith under Tuckabatchee Micco heading. He drowned in 1870 in Artussee community, where he had a grist mill established. This is about 7 miles southwest of Eufaula. The lake took over that land and I assume that he and Lucinda are buried underneath the waters. They were not relocated. Please email me at MarilynTolbert@hughes.net as I have changed to broadband.
