Thank you.

If you are referring to Manawa Wis I can forward some copies of articles on their two bids to obtain the county seat and an article referring to the burning of their IOOF Lodge/opera house

Hello, I am interested in any "period" references as to Menawa (the Red Stick)'s parentage. I have seen him referred to as the son of a Scots trader and a Creek woman but nothing beyond that. Was Menawa related to William Weatherford aka Red Eagle? I understand Red Eagle's father Charles Weatherford was not a Scotsman but that his maternal grandfather was. Appreciate any help on Menawa's ancestral genealogy. thanks

I'm afraid I don't know much beyond that Bunnie Manawa was born before 1870 in possibly the Okfusky, Canadian, Indian territory and died before 1901. He was married to Leah McGilbera (sp?) and she was from Hickory Ground, Indian Territory. They had 3 children, Bunnie, Lydia and George Bennett. Most of my information is through George Bennett Manawa.

You and I are related. I believe your mother to be Rubye Manawa Smith and my husbands grandfather was June, her brother. Can you please contact me at speakermom@hotmail.com to exchange what information I do have.
