Looking for Battiest family connections for those involved in the early removal process from Miss. to Indian Territory.,,,,
particularly information on Jincy (Battiest) Anderson,
wife of Daniel Anderson. Possible sisters, Louisa and Rhoda.
Supposedly father John Battiest married to Choctaw woman.
Also, who were Winney Battiest, Capt. Benjamin Battiest
(Battiece), Nicholas, Turner, Norman, or Sarah Battiest?
Was not Louisa married to Jesse Bohannon and Rhoda to a
Folsom? Also, Louisa was suppose to have a son, Billy King
that Daniel Anderson raised. Any info?

Have you checked the National Archives Site? Some of the names you mentioned is on the Final Rolls. You may already know this- you can request copies of the records from NARA. The cost for my Battiest Family cost $10.00. But my other family Cost $25.00. They will let you know if the cost is more than $10.00 by phone. If you are unfamiliar with the site click on search and place final rolls in the box. Hope this helps. Beverly

I am also searching for any info on Louisa Battiest of Indian Territory. She was my great, great grandmother. She was married to John A. McCoy, and also, I believe, a Bohannon. Any shred of info would be appreciated.

I made a mistake in my last posting...Louisa Battiest was the mother of John A. McCoy, not his wife. His first wife was Matilda Tequae. They had 2 children, William H. McCoy and Oliver McCoy. I know that John A. McCoy was enrolled in the Choctaw & Chickasaw Mounted Rifles, Company D. He enrolled at Good Land Mission on Sept. 2, 1864 at age 24. I'd love more info on him or any of his family.

I am very interested in any information about Louisa Battiest and her descendants. Is there any documentation of her having a son by the name of William (Billy) King, born 1825 in Mississippi. Billy King was raised by Captain Anderson, who was Billy's uncle. William (Billy) King was my great-grandfather, that would make Louisa my G-G Grandmother. Any information at all would be much appreciated. contact me at jjbull3@netscape.net or phone (918)522-4881. Thanks for all help.

Louisa Battiest md (1) John Bohannon (who died young) MS Choctaw Nation. Had son, Jesse Bohannon, who was mature enough in 1830 to be listed Simpson Co MS Census with 2 slaves. Removed to I.T. His 3rd wife was Nancy Turnbull, dtr George Turnbull.

Erroneously reported on some sites that Louisa was married to Daniel Anderson. Louisa's sister, Jenny, was married to Daniel Anderson. Peter Hudson's papers say that Daniel Anderson raised William (Billy) King. It is believed by some that Billy King was son of Louisa by her 2nd relationship - perhaps with Chief Moshulatubbee since his children were surnamed "King" just prior to removal to I.T. and he was documented with two wives - a fullblood and a French-Choctaw mixed-blood wife. Louisa's father was French and her mother Choctaw.

It is also reported that Louisa was married to William McCoy, mother of John McCoy. Seems unlikely given the dates of research for Louisa. Louisa's estimated birth is 1780 and Jesse Bohannon born c1800. Therefore, Louisa would have been approx. 64 yrs old when John McCoy was born 1840.

I may have some earlier McCoy info saved when I researched possibility of Louisa being married to William McCoy. I am a Baptiste (Battiest) descendant. You are welcome to contact me direct: merrywinters@bellsouth.net
