Hi Gina!

I was wondering if your great grandfather might have been Chief Mushalatubbee of the Mississippi Choctaw? I know his sons took the name King and one of them was named John. The chief was my great-great grandfather and I am trying to find the names of his daughters. One of them was supposed to have married my great-grandpa, John Edwards. How much have you found out? Please let me know. Thanks, Mary Lou

My ggrandparents were also named John and Laura King. They lived in southeastern Oklahoma,in and around McCurtain Co. about the 1900's except I was told Laura's maiden name was Romine. Their children were: Elba Stone (my grandfather), Merle, Tishie, Maggie and Ella King. Any connection?

Mary Lou, I saw your response to Gina's query about looking for names of Chief Mushulatubbee's daughters. My great great grandmother Rebecca King was one. I received information about other children's name which show Kiamichi, Mary, Peter "Wakiya", James, Hiram, Charles, Barett, McKee, William Chubbee. All with last name of King. Who knows how many children he had? My information shows Mary married to John Ellis who died while in MS bringing group of Choctaw to OK. Information about Mary King was from "Cases of Exeptional Merit", the Jounal of American Indian Family Research, Vol.111, p. 189.
