Hello. For the past year I have been trying to obtain information on my great-grandfather James F.? Myers. He was allegedly a Cherokee Indian. According to the cemetery he is buried in James was born April 23, 1902 on a reservation in Oklahoma died Feb 4, 1974 in California. I have not been able to find any information about his birth. I searched online thru the Oklahoma Historical Society and came up empty handed. I have read that most birth records for Cherokee's around 1900 were either not recorded or not complete. So is this basically a lost cause? I'm seriously at a dead end. He married a woman who died as Regina Myers 1902-1985 (she used another name of Virginia O'Malley and was supposedly born in Louisiana) and they had 4 children. Avis L. 1933-2005, Tyrone, David M 1937-2004, and my grandfather Reid Raymond Myers 1940-1994. Most of James's children were born in Illinois.
