Aunt Evalyn Winslow ended her life on 7 March 1918 in Tulsa. At the time of her death, she was living at 1220 So. Galveston Street. Due to the circumstances surrounding her death, there was a coroner's inquest. I'd very much like to obtain any documents associated with the inquest but do not know where to begin to look for them.

In addition, Mowbray Undertaking Company (Tulsa OK) handled the disposition of her body, which--according to her death certificate--was removed to Mountain View, Kiowa Co., OK. It was her family's understanding that she was to be buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Mountain View. However, a thorough search of the cemetery does not reveal any evidence of her burial there.

Any ideas on how to proceed in tracking down the disposition of Aunt Evalyn's body would be very welcome.

Have you checked to see if there are other cemeteries in Mountain View that may be possibilities? What do you think the reason is that the family thinks she was sent there? If you happen to know the names of Evalyn's parents and sibilings and their dates of birth and possible dates of death, could you please send me that information directly to my e-mail address? She was living with the McBride's at the time of her death and I'm especially interested in knowing the name of Mrs. McBride and when she died.

Doesn't Evalyn's death certificate show the name of the cemetery where she was buried?

Does it show the names of her parents?

According to the newspaper, her arrangements were handled by Mowbray Funeral Home. This funeral home had many placements in Oaklawn Cemetery and others. Contact Oaklawn (1133 E. 11th St., Tulsa, OK 74120) and ask if they show Evalyn's name in their records for 1918. Thomas McBride was buried there in August 27, 1956--ask them to check the entire area around Mr. McBride to see if perhaps there is a family plot or section there.

The newspaper story also mentioned that Evalyn's mother, Mrs. Hayes (this was the only name given--since it's your family you know what her full name is) lived in Sulphur, Oklahoma (which is the main city in Murray County). Post a query on the Murray County message board to see what the names of the cemeteries are in that area and do a search there (if we assume that her mother might have wanted to bury Evalyn near where the mother lived) and also find out when Mrs. Hayes died to see what cemetery Mrs. Hayes was buried in to see if Evalyn might also be there.

Perhaps so much time has passed that it would be virtually impossible to find out the information you want if grass and weeds have grown tall enough to maybe obscure the gravesite.
