Have you made a connection with Gattemeier?
Most of John and Sophia's children's death certificates list Sophia's maiden name as Meins or
Mines, one says Katzmeyer. The Gademeier in
Uncle Bill's letter, I believe is Kotyemeyer in the
Missouri Digital
Heritage on-line probate docs. The probate records spell the name at least a dozzen different ways.
According to the probate docs, when Henry Kotgemeyer died on May 5, 1853, his wife,
Sophia had one son, John, and another on the way. The one on the way, I believe, is my great grandfather,
Heinrich Dietrich Albers, who was born Nov 18, 1853, six months after his father's death. The probate docs also mention that she is now the wife of
Koehler.
Her second marriage was a little over a month after Henry Kottkemeyer's death. The marriage doc reads "
Hermann KÖhler and widow
Sophia KÖttkemeyer a born Meins" The date of this union was 15 June A.D. 1853.
Sophia's final marriage was to John Henry
Albers on Dec 23, 1856. Here she is refered to as "Mrs
Sophia Meinz, formerly
Koehler
