Does anyone have pertinent information surrounding the shooting of Tom J. Clark on the steps of the Stephens Co., Oklahoma Courthouse in Duncan in 1907 by Jim Leftwich?

My cousin's grandfather, James A. Hammond was a half brother of Clark and passed the shooting incident on down to his son, Sam H. Hammond and Sam passed it on down to his family. The facts were minimal and there should be more to the story.

I am looking for an obit for Tom J. Clark that may have appeared in the newspaper in Duncan, OK. and survived.

Tom left a widow with several children and 2 grandchildren who were in Stephens Co., in the 1910 census, but are not there in 1920. His wife was Millie A. ??? Her daughter, Minnie "Mollie" married Ed F. Carson who died after 1902.

Tom's mother was a daughter of Jefferson Alford and his father may have been Thomas Clark. This strongly suggests that Tom J. Clark is Thomas Jefferson Clark named for his grandfather, Jefferson Alford and father, posibly Thomas Clark.

Any help will be appreciated.

I can't seem to find a Stephens county paper for that time but I did find this in the Oklahoma City paper.

From the Daily Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma county, Oklahoma, Tuesday, May 7, 1907, front page.

"OLD FEUD ENDS IN KILLING OF WEALTHY MANY AT DUNCAN"

Special to The Oklahoman
Duncan I.T. May 6 - James leftwitch of Loco, a cattleman, shot and instantly killed T.J. Clark, another cattleman, at the entance of the court room in this city at 1 o'clock this afternoon. Clark was about 55 years old and owns much land around this city and his home town, Loco.
There was an old feud between the men and it is said that both of them have been armed for some time.
Leftwitch came out of the court room, met Clark on the stairway, pulled an automatic revolver and fired five times. One of the bullets took effect in the forehead, another in the breast and another in the right shoulder.
Leftwitch is a young man about 37 years and is prominent in politics. At present he is a candidate for state senator on the democratic ticket. He is an intermarried citizen and owns considerable land and cattle. Clark was also an intermarried citizen".

I have a small book written by the daughter of James (Jim) Leftwich. She was born in 1895. The book covers her family from the late 1700's There are two paragraphs about Tom Clark and family. There are two pages relating the days before and after the shooting.
Please contact me if you want a copy of the pertinent pages.
