Does anyone have pertinent information surrounding the shooting of Tom J. Clark on the steps of the
Stephens Co., Oklahoma Courthouse in
Duncan in 1907 by Jim
Leftwich?
My cousin's grandfather, James A. Hammond was a half brother of
Clark and passed the shooting incident on down to his son, Sam H. Hammond and Sam passed it on down to his family. The facts were minimal and there should be more to the story.
I am looking for an obit for Tom J. Clark that may have appeared in the newspaper in
Duncan, OK. and survived.
Tom left a widow with several children and 2 grandchildren who were in
Stephens Co., in the 1910 census, but are not there in 1920. His wife was
Millie A. ??? Her daughter, Minnie "
Mollie" married Ed F. Carson who died after 1902.
Tom's mother was a daughter of
Jefferson Alford and his father may have been Thomas
Clark. This strongly suggests that Tom J. Clark is Thomas
Jefferson Clark named for his grandfather,
Jefferson Alford and father, posibly Thomas
Clark.
Any help will be appreciated.
