Both of my parents are buried in Puyallup Washington I now live in Chewelah Washington, but have fond memories of Keetonville and the people there. He was the Assistant Special Industrial and Immigration agent at the L & N Railroad during the Grover Cleveland administration in 1888 he was assigned to the U.S.Consul to Mexico.

With all of this information I cannot find his parents. They are named Louis Jerome Cisco and Laurette Wezinski.

I hope that something here helps you. If so please let me know.

Robert W.Cisco
rbrt_csc@Yahoo.com

I have been looking at the Sisco/Cisco(Cises,Sesco) data to find the connection to my Grandfather. It seems like James Cisco (Cises,Sisco) might be the connection.
I have seen the Ripley, MO marriage recording which states
that 12 December 1857 James Cisco married Rachel Ellis and this was recorded 1 March 1858. I would expect the marrige recording to be by somebody local that would know the difference between Cisco and Sisco.

Can you help me with this?

My research data at present:

Terry Cecil Cisco 1941 Whittier, CA - me
Harold Cecil Cisco 1916 Hatfield, MO - my father
George Lincoln Cisco, 14 Dec 1892 near Coffey, Daviess Co, MO - my grandfather
Ethel May Poush 23 Feb 1843, Harrison Co, MO - my grandmother

Siblings of George Lincoln Cisco
Jennie Maude Cisco 1 Feb 1886
Ethel Elizabeth Cisco 1 Dec 1890
Clifford C Cisco 1896
James Ralph Cisco 1903

The 1900 Daviess Co, MO US Census shows a
George Cisco 39
Mary A Cisco 39
Jennie M Cisco 13
Ethel E Cisco 10
George L Cisco 7
Clifford Cisco 3

I am the only son of an only son so there are not many people left to communicate with.

I was told that my grandfather George Lincoln Cisco's father was George Cisco and that we were connected to a Binney family.

The 1880 Douglas, MO US census lists a James Cisco 36 married to a Rachael Cisco 36 with a son George W Cisco 16 and a son James W Cisco 18 married to Mary A Cisco 17.

This George W Cisco (Cises, Sisco, Sesco) would seem to fit by age and place as my great grandfather. Is this where the name might have changed from Sisco to Cisco?

I see lots of Jackson Co, TN Sisco and Cisco ancestry entries in the 1800's censuses. A picture of James France Cisco (Sisco) with Rachael Ellis posted by suesisco in 20 sep 2012. The names were hand written on the photo as listed above. There are lots of George, James, Rachael in these families.

There is also a badly damaged grave stone photo for George Washington Sisco with what appears to be children named Elizabeth Jane - Feb 1889 to Aug 1889 and
Christopher Andrew - May 1887 - Jul 189?
This would appear to be the right time frame but wrong children?

I hope this information is helpful to you and
that you will be able to add or clarify the information

Thanks
perhaps your cousin
Terry Cisco
tcisco@charter.net
You are very welcome, and I do appreciate it when someone lets me know my information has been helpful.

You probably did not find Hattie Marie at findagrave for the same reason I did not. I was looking for Hattie M. Adams. I found her by accident. In the 1930 Oklahoma census I had seen the information about a Hattie Turner married to a Robert Turner. There is a site for Oklahoma Cemeteries, certainly not complete but sometimes helpful. I went to Rogers County and put in the name Turner for a search. I found a link for Turner names at Lone Elm Cemetery. When I looked at the information for Hattie M. Turner I saw the match in the birth date with that of Hattie M. Adams. It was an Aha! moment. Here is a link to the printed record for Lone Elm Cemetery. You might find other names that you recognize.

http://www.okcemeteries.net/rogers/loneelm/loneelm.htm

I looked at your posting history and saw your query about Jessie Alice Hough. I am not related but I do enjoy research and have been doing internet research for quite awhile. Since Jessie was born after 1880 and married before 1900, she will not be found in a census record with her family. I did find what I consider clues that I think lead to her family. It is what I call strong circumstantial evidence.

I have several things to do, so I will wait until probably this evening to post at the Hough site, but here are some names that you might want to look into before I can get back.

Jessie said her father was born in Illinois and her mother in Delaware. At familysearch.org I found that Mary Hazel and Patricia May Bradley were both born in Woodbury Co. IA. The 1880 Woodbury Co. IA census shows a newly married couple, James Hough, b. Canada, and Mary, born Delaware. I believe these were Jessie’s parents. Although James was born in Canada, his family did spend some time in Illinois because his younger brother, Joseph, was born in IL. James’ father was born in England, his mother in Ireland. Also living in 1880 Woodbury Co. IA was Thomas Hough, b. England, and his wife, Mary, b. Ireland. By 1900, Jessie and her husband, Fred E. Bradley, were in Hamilton Co. Nebraska. Also living in 1900 Hamilton Co. NE was James Hough, b. Canada, and his wife, Mary, b. Delaware.

If you have not discovered the site familysearch.org I recommend it for finding quite a bit of information (all free). That is where I found the Iowa birth records for Patricia May and Mary Hazel. Their mother was identified as Jessie Alice Hough.

I will try to get back to your Hough query at a later time.

Mary in OK

I am sorry that I was not more clear in my questions. I wondered where and when your grandmother, Lucille, was married. Her mother was probably not far away.

But I found some very interesting information and I think it is your great grandmother, Hattie Marie.

The Social Security Death Index has this entry:

Hattie M. Adams, b. 17 May 1909, died Jan 1989, last residence, Rogers Co. OK. (Verdigris is in Rogers Co.)

Then this cemetery entry:

Lone Elm Cemetery, Rogers Co. OK.

West Section:

Hattie M. Turner, b. 17 May, 1909, died 14 Jan 1989. (The same information as found on the SS death info under Hattie M. Adams.)

Also buried in the West Section was a Robert Turner, b. 1 Aug 1885, died 5 Sep 1939.

This might be the same couple found in 1930 Oklahoma, Okmulgee Co., living with his parents.

Robert P. Turner, age 77, b. England
Alice J. Turner, age 65, b. IL
Robert J. Turner, age 40, b. MO
Hattie Turner, age 23, b. OK
(No children in the home.)

You probably know that census records can be very inconsistent. I doubted the age given for Hattie Marie in 1940. The writing in that census was very small and a little difficult to read. I think the 50 should have been 30.

I suggest keeping this information. I think the match of dates for Hattie M. Adams and Hattie M. Turner is not just coincidence.

Here is the link to findagrave’s photo of the double stone for Robert and Hattie M. Turner

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Tu...;

I do know for sure she went by Hattie and that is the way she spelled it, however I have often wondered if it was a nickname or if it was short for Harriet, Patricia, or another similar name.

My mom used to joke with me that they almost named me "Hattie" after her, so that is really the only piece I have to go by.

I was fairly certain that that census was the correct family because of my Grandmother Lucille and her 3 sisters, but now I am wondering if it is just a coincidence?

As to when she married or whom she married I have no clue. My remaining family has very vague memories of her, hence the question as to her maiden and married name.

It might help a researcher to know more about your grandmother. Do you know when she married and where she was living when she married?

familysearch has indexed the 1940 marital status of Mattie Turner as Widowed. Often the writing of a W and the M hard difficult to decipher. I looked at it and I think I would read it as widowed.

Could the age of Mattie Marie be off in the 1940 census? According to that census, she was already 40 when she gave birth to the first daughter.

I am seeking more information about my Great Grandmother Hattie Marie Turner Adams.

I believe she was born in Oklahoma around 1890 or 1891. I have found her listed in the 1940 census with my Grandmother, but I have hit a brick wall after that.

I have spoke to my remaining family members and no one is for sure what her maiden name was, I do believe she was married several times. No one is even sure where she died or is buried either.

In the 1940 census she was listed as married, but no male is indicated in the census information.

She was living in Verdigris, Oklahoma with her five daughters:
Maxine Turner 10
Ida J Turner 9
Imogene Turner 5
Lucille Turner 4
Mary Ellen Turner 2

I have tried searching for information on the daughters but have not been able to find anything that way either.

James Edward Gregg, Paul Gregg, Marie Charlotte Gregg

My name is Jacoby Lowney, I am the Grandson of James Edward Gregg. James Gregg was born in Paris, Bourbon County Kentucky on Sep 2, 1885 and reportedly served active duty during the first world war. We also show him signing up for the draft in Hill County, Montana in 1917 but understood that he may have been active duty prior to this. We do know that James Gregg was in Point Barrow, Alaska when the 1920 Census was recorded. A marriage certif located in Montana shows his parents as a "Paul Gregg" and mother was a "Marie Charlotte". We are not sure what brought Paul Gregg to Paris Kentucky or if Paul was possibly a middle name. Marie Charlotte was reportedly born in Oklahoma and was of Native American descent. This is family lore but there may be some truth to it as there is definately some Native American "features" in some of our family. In the 1920 Census for Point Barrow, Alaska, James Gregg's father was listed as born in "France". James Gregg disappeared for decades and upon the death of his daughter, Virginia in 1953, he was no-where to be found. Recently, I went to San Diego and located his death record which led me right to his grave in Mount. Hope Cemetery. It makes me sad that he just vanished off the earth without ever knowing his family. Even more mysterious, is why the family never heard from him again, even after his passing. We were never notified. Until 2011, We had no idea he was laid to rest in San Diego.

I am desperate to find records on who his parents were, where they came from and what became of them. I would love to discover Marie Charlotte's Native Amercan information as well as Paul Gregg info as well. I would additionally like to obtain all of James Gregg's Military records but don't know where to begin. There seem to be so many records repositories..I am lost. We know that James Gregg and his wife Belva were taken to Point Barrow, Alaska in 1919 aboard the US Revenue Cutter Bear. They were both reportedly in the employ of the Govenment but don't know what capacity. I am so desperate to know my ancestry and it just bothers me to know that the information I am seeking is out there but it seems like finding a needle in a haystack.

Can you help me out here on my request or possibly offer me some insight as to where I can go to get the answers? I am more than willing to pay for results should you be willing to help me. WOuld your library or any of your local genealogical societies have any information on the Gregg family?

My address is 1402 Chanel Loop, Billings, Montana 59101, my telephone number is 406-465-5667 and my email address should you wish to contact me is glendalecrazy@aol.com

Additional information on James Edward Gregg:

SSN: 516-12-6826
Date of Birth: Sep 2, 1885

Passed away in San Diego in 1974.

Last known address: Golden West Hotel, 720 4th Ave. San Diego, California

Thank You in advance for any help you can offer.
Jacoby Lowney

I did find them listed on the 1920 and 1940 census living in Texas, stating they were born in Texas, with the children born in Texas.
This is the Oklahoma board so you might have better luck posting on the Texas board. I also saw her name listed as Alice Rodgers on one of the childrens birth in Texas. William is listed as W. D. Wims. Do you know where William and Ina are buried? It appears William was b. 1888, and Ina was b. 1899. in Texas.

I am needing any info on this couple. Minnie died around 1913 in Inola is what I was told. And William died about 1923 or 1924. I am doing a look up for a Rhonda Steele who lives in Oregon. She thinks he is a cousin to Will Rogers. I can't seem to find anything on them. I haven't been able to get my Ancestry paid membership back yet.

Any information or fill in the 'blanks,' you need I will be glad to help. I am very interested in my family line.

My name is Ed Meacham. I live in Claremore, Oklahoma. I'm sure Ruby Robbins-Compton was my aunt. My mother was Ruby's sister Corrie; she also had a sister named Gladys and 2 half sisters named Nora and Georgia and 2 brothers named Harrison and Abe. Ruby's children would be my first cousins, but only name I can remember at this time is Deemer. I'm not sure about the spelling. You can contact me at ed.meacham@att.net or you can call me at 918-341-5198. I think I can get more information as I have a first cousin that lives about 30 miles away. Her mother was Gladys. Ed Meacham
