BURNS, Robert Lee

Robert Lee Burns was born on November 11, 1925, near Cheyenne, Oklahoma. His mother, Myrtle Burns died at his birth and Mrs. Ida Combs of Cheyenne took him and cared for him until he was about 9 months of age. Then Mrs. J.E. Vincent and family took him into their home where he was reared to young manhood and was regarded by them as a member of their family. His father, Matthew F. Burns, died in 1944.
At the age of 12 years, Bob, as he was familarly known, gave his heart to God and joined the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Burns, of Pocatelio, Idaho and five brothers, John J. of Reydon, Taylor of Indianapolis, Indiana and Francis, George and Wayne of Los Angeles. He passed away on May 9, 1951, in the Pocatello, Idaho General Hospital at the age of 25 years, 5 months and 29 days.
"The loved and loving son, brother and friend died before manhood's morning touched noon, and while the shadows still wered failing toward he west. He had not passed on Life's highway the stone that marks the highest point; but being weary for a moment, he lay down by thed wayside and using his burden for a pillow fell into that dreamless sleep that kisses down his eyelids still. While yet in love with life and raptured with the world he passed to silence and pathetic dust. Yet, after all, it may be best, just in the happiestr sunniest hour of all, the voyage, while eager winds are kissing every sail, to dash against the seen rock, and in an instant hear the billows roar over a sunken ship."
"He added to the sum of humand joy, and were everyone to whome he did some loving service to bring a blossom to his grave, he would sleep beneath wilderness of flowers."
Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 15MAY1951

Who can do more?
But he is gone! Another name is stricken from the ever lessening roll of our old settlers. He was a man who united sound sense with streong concictions and a candid, outspoken temper, eminently fitted to mould the rude elements of pioneer society into form and consistency and aid in raising a high standard of citizenship in our new state. Mr. Gray has been Past High Priest of the Masonic Chapter, Past Tri lll Master of Cheyenne Council, Past Eminent Commander of Elk City Commandery and Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge of Oklahoma.
Interment was made Monday afternoon in the Cheyenne cemetery.
Laugh out loud. That's what Loyd Curtis Rice did and everyone laughed in return. Love out loud. That's what Loyd CurtisRice did and everyone loved him in return. He loved them by givig them bags of M&M's, by bakngs pies, by grilling steaks, by giving them money, by giving them kindness, and by giving them attention.Loyd was born December 3. 1928to Edward Allen Rice and Agnes Inez Rice (formerly Dagleigh). What he was really saying was, "I love you". He lived to bless others. Underneath his selfeffacing Will Rogers-style folksy charm was a brilliant mind. He was good at making money but even better at giving it away to those in need. He was as world-class domino player, and was excellent at cards and pool as well.
