Dawson A. Turner was born August 9, 1879 in Mason County, Texasl. His parents moved to Oklahoma when he was small and he has lived near Hammon since 1900.
He was married November 29, 1903 to Bertha Shandy. To this union were born five children; two boys and three girls, Lonnie Turner, Tahoka, Texas; Mrs. Earl Wilson, Brownfield, Texas; Mrs. Harry Elkins, Blooming Grove, Texas; Mrs. Enos Tucker, Butler, OK and Lester of Hammon.
Mr. Turner passed away August 18, 1938 at the age of 59 years 9 days at his home in Hammon, after an illness of six months. He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, five children, seven grandchildren, four brothers, Tom, Clint, Newt and Houston of Hammon; three sisters, Mrs. W.R. Hill, Hammon, OK; Mrs. Laura Deason, Oakland, Calif; Mrs. Nomah Morton of Herring, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S.L. Isaac, pastor of the Hammon Baptist Church. Burial was made in Red Hill Cemetery.
