Nancy the fire took place in Denison, Texas on February the 3, 1889. They are all three buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Denison. They had a 3 year old son Grover Cleveland Kelly. Do you now why he survived the fire?

I've read some of your posts regarding this Crisp and am wondering if you have any new information or could possibly point me in the right direction. Thanks, in advance.
DanaRose M.
I May have been misinformed and have my info wrong.but my understanding from family and sources,Hiram and Martha was first cousins. Martha mother Martha Jane cooper is my great great grand father Thomas Sterling Coopers sister.Hiram father was Thomas s,coopers brother.Jessie Cooper and Anna Hosey were their Parents. So my understanding both sets or related. Hoseys and coopers migrated from other parts.some staying and others settling. in the long haul they are all related but distantly blood connected.i never heard of German blood line. Irish and Indian mostly. that's what i grew up understanding.and cooper has always been cooper.amazing at what you find out later. that is why i love history.i have been researching since i was a kid,and now i am 58 and still learning.would like more inf.jenkinspj@yahoo.com my name is Pam cooper.
I am not related. . .very confusing family. Your family is from the Chickasaw Tribe. Find that Catherine Jackson was 1st married to Joseph Pirtle from Lamar Co TX then to John C Jackson from TN. Can't figure out who her parents were.

Henry "Fillmore" appears to be her half brother and she had to have a sister that married a Berry because I don't think George Berry, Ben H Fillmore, Naomi Ruth and Patsy Sue had the same mother.

Mestizo= a term traditionally used in Spain, Latin America & Philippines for people who identify as having mixed descent.

1940 Ada, Pontotoc, OK
Head Catherine Jackson	68 Oklahoma married race "Mestizo"
Niece Naomi R Jackson 12 Oklahoma 1928 "Mestizo"
Niece Patsy Sue Jackson 6 Oklahoma 1934 "Mestizo"
Nephew Ben H Fillmore 17 Oklahoma 1923 "Mestizo"
Nephew George Berry 16 Oklahoma 1924 "Mulatto"

Name: Ben H Filmore
Name (Original): Ben H Filmore
Event Type: Military Service
Event Date: 16 Sep 1940
Term of Enlistment:
Event Place: Mcalester, Oklahoma, United States
Residence Place:
Race: American Indian
Citizenship Status: citizen
Birth Year: 1921
Birthplace: OKLAHOMA
Education Level: 1 year of high school
Civilian Occupation: Actors and actresses
Marital Status: Single, without dependents
Military Rank:	Private
Army Branch: Infantry
Army Component: National Guard (Officers, Warrant Officers, and Enlisted Men)
Source Reference: National Guard
Serial Number: 20829688
Affiliate Publication Title: Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938-1946
Affiliate ARC Identifier: 1263923
Box Film Number: 03643.85
Citing this Record
"United States, World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org

1930 Ada, Pontotoc, OK
Head Catherine Jackson	58 Oklahoma, white, married, was 19 or 17 when she 1st married proprietor of hotel
Niece Catherine Fillimore 23 Oklahoma 1907 white single father born OK mother TN
Nephew Ben Fillimore 7 Oklahoma
Niece	Namoi R Fillimore 2 Oklahoma
Nephew	George Berry 6 Oklahoma white
Servant	Ruth Dilley	F	40 Kansas
Servant	Grace Elam	F	17 Arkansas
Roomer	Harry G Rappolee	M	20 Oklahoma
Roomer	Sam L White	M	63 Missouri
Roomer	Rufus W Erwin	M	36 Kansas
Roomer	Virgil M Cone	M	37 Texas
Roomer	Tom Lankford	M	18 Oklahoma
Roomer	Dallas Grundon	M	18 Illinois
Roomer	Britton Jennings	M	22 Oklahoma
Roomer	Henry Nice	M	54 Texas

1930 Pontotoc, OK
H C Fillmore 39 OK
Minnie Fillmore 33 TN appears to be back in Norman in 1940
dtr Alice Fillmore 16 OK
son Cicero Fillmore 14 OK
dtr Catherine Fillmore 13 OK

1920 Walker, Garvin Co OK
John C Jackson 37 TN son of Thomas J and Julia E both of TN
Katherine Jackson 48 OK
Katherine S listed as Jackson 12 stepdaughter

Name: John C Jackson
Titles and Terms: Mr
Event Type: Marriage
Event Date: 26 Jan 1911
Event Place (Formatted): Garvin, Oklahoma, United States
Age: 30
Race:
Birth Date:
Birth Year (Estimated): 1881
Marriage License Date:
Marriage License Place:
Father's Name:
Father's Titles and Terms:
Mother's Name:
Mother's Titles and Terms:
Spouse's Name:	Kittie Pirtle
Spouse's Titles and Terms: Mrs
Spouse's Age: 35
Spouse's Birth Year (Estimated): 1876
Spouse's Father's Name:
Spouse's Father's Titles and Terms:
Spouse's Mother's Name:
Spouse's Mother's Titles and Terms:
Reference ID:
GS Film number: 1398971
Digital Folder Number: 4532537
Image Number: 00222
Citing this Record
"Oklahoma, County Marriages, 1891-1959," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/

1910 Garvin Co OK Indian Population
Kitty "Piette" (Pirtle) 38 OK OK OK widow Chickasaw Indian
John A Piette (Pirtle) 17 TX son father born TX
Catherine Fillmore 03 OK niece Indian mother born TN
Henry Fillmore 27 OK OK 1883 listed as widowed half brother Indian

1910; Census Place: Midland, Pontotoc, Oklahoma; Roll: T624_1270; Page: 1B; Enumeration District: 0260; FHL microfilm: 1375283.
Indian Population
Rufus M Burnett	63 2nd marriage 24 yrs born KY (lived in Pontotoc Co in 1920 widowed)
Harriett I Burnett 60 OK 4th marriage ?

I think James Lovelady is my great grandfather. My
grandfather's name is Walter Lovelady and my grandmother's
name is Ada Lovelady. I remember my Mother saying that
there was a school named Lovelady after her grandfather.
She said that James Lovelady's wife was half indian. She
was left on the porch of James Lovelady's neighbor and
they raised her. James married her. My mother's cousin
was a minister in Ada, Walter Lovelady. I believe that
Luther is my grandfather's brother and he lived in Arizona
I remember going with my grandfather in 1951 and met him.
I am told that that courthouse burned down and we are unable
to prove what indian tribe we are from. I would appreciate
learning more about the family!

Re: WOOD/KINDRECK

Have you searched this site which has some of the early Garvin Co. newspapers?
http://gateway.okhistory.org/

Could your Wood also have been Woods at different times? I transcribed some of the early Purdy newspaper and found a few items like this one from other newspapers, which were posted years ago:
The Daily Ardmoreite
Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma
More Items from February 1908
Purdy
Purdy, Feb--Many changes have taken place in and around Purdy since the new year came. Some of our best farmers and citizens have gone to other points and their places have been occupied by people who are strangers.
There is at this time a great deal of sickness around Purdy.
MRS. WOODS, wife of GEORGE WOODS, died at this place a few days since.

Your search is very interesting to us, as we have both the Ward and Taylor Families intertwined within our Family. My Dad (and all of his Siblings) were born in Stonewall, OK, and raised later in Ada. We have a solid background of this area, as well as Ward/Taylor Marriages within our Family (in other areas). Please feel free to respond, as we are always blessed by helping.

I don't believe I can provide support regarding the location of the three Ward's, but I also a Ward. I was born in 1962 in Oklahoma City. According to my mother (adopted), I had two or three brothers and two sisters. BTW, both my twin sister and I were adopted. We lived in an orphanage (Oklahoma City) for approximately two years before being adopted.

Anyway, if I find any relevant information to help. I'll let you know.
I am helping my husband's uncle get started in genealogy. I have very little to go on, but I have some names and some birth/death years. Most are buried in Garvin county, but it has been said that the homestead is in Indian territory and wood county is named after the family. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am at a huge disadvantage because I am in Pennsylvania and cant get to the courthouse/libraries to research. I know these threads are old, but hopefully someone will see this and respond.
Thanks,
krista richards

I found at our genealogy library today the death record for E. N. Kelley who died June 3, 1929 and was buried June 4, 1929.
He died at 909 El 14th, Connerville, Oklahoma.
He was born June 25, 1853 in Tennessee.
He was a widower and died of heart failure.
He was buried at Connerville Cemetery.
Since his wife died before he did, I am going to assume she is buried in that cemetery and he is buried next to her. Criswell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Also buried at Connerville are:
Charles Kelley,
Martha Cole Kelley,
Edward Newton Kelley,
Eliza Benton Kelley,
Oliver F. Kelley and
Willie Estes Kelley.

JaNell Fleming
Hooky Miller killed Hendrix at the Corner Saloon. He was taken to Ada and buried at Rosedale and has a nice marker. Later Bobbitt was in a court case where he was trying to get the widow Hendrix's land.
Yes, I did leave a message at find a grave. The Chickasaw Nation sent me a list of people buried at Cravatt Cemetery, but not sure this is really the correct one. If it is, I have been there (in Bromide?). Allen Cravatt and wife,
Katie, are there. Allen was my great great grandfather's uncle. (My 3rd great?) Katie was not on this list, but she's buried next to Allen. Is there another Cravatt cemetery? Thanks for your reply.
Linda

The Family of Forbus Cravatt is in Sealy Chapel Cemetery off Highway 99, exit about 1 mile North of Connerville OK. Go East about two miles, turn south at sign about 1/4 mile. If there is another cemetery of Cravatt's I would like the information too. I live about 23 miles from the Sealy Cemetery.

William Carroll French B: May 1843 appears in the 1910 Census of Midland, [Pontotoc Co.], OK (age 67). He does NOT appear in 1920, so he probably died after 1910. My request to OK-Vital records searched ALL counties 1915-1925 and found no results.

He is most likely buried in Pontotoc county; is there a historical society that has surveyed cemeteries there? How is the best way to find him?
