Funeral services for Vada
Bricker Padgett, 73, of Petal,
Mississippi, who died Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at her home were held Saturday, February 10 at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg,
Mississippi with the Reverend
Wendall Frazier officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Petal,
Mississippi.
Vada was born in
Bristow on January 9, 1928, to
Percy M. and Bernice P. Bricker. She was reared in
Delaware and attended school in
Childers and
Delaware. She received her teaching certificate from
Oklahoma University at Norman. Her first teaching job was at
Millican School in
Northeast Nowata County. Later she taught at schools in Americas,
Georgia and
Midland,
Texas and retired from teaching after 36 years at the Hattiesburg School Systems.
She and Billy Gene
Padgett were married on December 26, 1947 at Nowata.
Mrs. Padgett is survived by her husband. Billy
Padgett of the home; a son, DeWayne B. Padgett of
Dalton,
Georgia and a daughter; Jo Deb Harrin of Petal, Mississippi; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
Percy and Bernice
Bricker of Nowata; two aunts, Clella
Epperson and Thelma
Williamson.
