Funeral services for Dorotha L. Alford
Cline, 85, of Nowata, who died Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at Jane
Phillips Nowata Health Center, were held Friday, February 2 at
Childers Full
Gospel Church with Sister Shirley Randall officiating. Interment followed at Martin Cemetery in the Twin
Bridges Community under the direction of Benjamin Funeral
Service of Nowata.
Dorotha was born at Sedan,
Kansas on September 17, 1915 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Alford. She grew up at Sedan and received her education there. Dorotha moved to Nowata 50 years ago and had worked at McLellans and Nowata Middle School. She and Clyde Bernard "Toad"
Cline were married on January 4, 1953 at Huntsville,
Alabama. After retirement, she was a volunteer for the
Senior Citizens Center and
Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Cline was a member of the
Childers Full
Gospel Church and VFW Auxiliary. She lived to sew and garden.
Survivors include three daughters: Johnie Lynn
Richardson of
Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Janice Sue Lay of
Pryor and Terry Lee
Shipley of Childers; two brothers: Clarence
Alford and Charles
Alford, both of Sedan, Kansas; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, "Toad"
Cline on September 4, 1984.
