Graveside services for Janet
Bumgarner Irelan, 64, a former Nowata resident,who died Saturday, February 3, 2001 at her home in Little Rock,
Arkansas,were held Tuesday, February 6, in Nowata Memorial
Park Cemetery with Ben
Killion officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Benjamin Funeral
Service of Nowata.
Janet began this life November 27, 1936 in
Delaware as the daughter of Walter David and Nina Mary
Davis Bumgarner. She received her elementary education in
Delaware and then moved to Nowata where she graduated from Nowata High School. Janet later attended Bartlesville Beauty
College and became a Licensed Cosmetologist. She worked as a beautician and also worked for the Acme Foundry at Coffeyville,
Kansas.
Janet moved to
California in the early 1960's where she met and later was united in marriage with Kenneth
Irelan in June of 1963. Kenneth was killed in action in Vietnam and Janet returned to Nowata in the late 1960's. She moved to Little Rock,
Arkansas in 1981.
Mrs. Irelan was a member of the American Businesswomen's Association and she was very dedicated to her grandchildren and their activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim Glenn and her husband John of Little Rock, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Jason Glenn and his wife Katie and Johnathan Glen, both of Little Rock,
Arkansas and Justin Glen of
Arkansas City,
Kansas,; her mother Nina M. Bumgarner of Nowata; a sister, Carolyn
Eve and her husband, Bob, also of Nowata; one niece, Becky
Eve of Las
Vegas,
Nevada and an aunt, June White and her husband, Gene of Nowata.
In addition to her husband, Kenneth
Irelan, Janet was also preceded in death by her father, Walter D. Bumgarner on January 8, 1976.
