Graveside services for Lorane
Leota Winters, 78 of Nowata who died Thurday, January 25, 2001 at the Jane
Phillips Nowata Health Center were held Tuesday, January 30 at the Armstrong-Secondine Cemetery northeast of Nowata with Ben
Killion officiating. Services and interment were directed by Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home.
Lorane was born on November 29, 1922 at Alluwe, the daughter of Charles J. and Minnie
Parker Secondine. She was raised and received her education in Nowata schools and the Chilloco Indian School. She married Jack E. Winters in April of 1955. She had worked as a physical therapist at the
Salem Hospital in
Salem,
Missouri for 17 years. She was a member of the
Delaware Indian
Tribe.
Mrs. Winters is survived by her husband Jack E. Winters of the home; two sons:
Bert Payton, Jr. of
Beach Grove,
Indiana and Tony
Winters of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters: Mary Deloris White of
Dewey and Shirley
Hutton of Nowata; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Eugene Winters; two brothers; five sisters and one grandchild, Ronald
Payton.
