LeRoy Jordan, age 85 and a long time resident of Nowata, died late Monday morning, January 22, 2001, in St. Francis Hospital at Tulsa.
Funeral services for Mr. Jordan were Thursday, January 25 in Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel at Nowata. Ben Killion and the Reverend Rick Thayer officiated. Interment followed in Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service. The family suggests that friends who wish may remember the 10-33 Emergency Team at 321 East Cherokee, Nowata 74048.
LeRoy Jordan began this life November 6, 1915 in Alluwe as the son of Adge Day and Cleta Frank Allison Jordan. LeRoy grew up at Alluwe and received his education in the Alluwe Schools. He met and later was united in marriage with Madeline Ryan Ralston on October 9, 1937 at Alluwe. LeRoy worked for the Union Traction Company at Coffeyville, Kansas where he operated a street car, interurban and bus. He moved to the Nowata-Alluwe area where he and his wife, Madeline, operated a grocery store at Pumpkin Center for three years. He then worked for Forrest Oil Corporation for 30 years and later for Benjamin Funeral Service for ten years. He then worked for three years until retiring in 1983. LeRoy was a member of the First United Methodist
Church.
LeRoy is survived by his wife of more than 63 years, Madeline Jordan of the home; by one son, Mike Jordan and his wife, Diane of Nowata; by one daughter, Pat Lippitt and her husband, Mike of Bartlesville; by five grandchildren, Bruce Jordan of Nowata, Richard Lippitt of Grove, Susan Clark of Tahlequah, Michelle Lippitt of New York City, New York and Stephen Lippitt of Bartlesville; by six great-grandchildren and by other relatives.
Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents, Adge and Cleta Jordan and by one brother, Glen Eldon Jordan.
