Funeral services for George Edward Willis, 71, of Farmington, New Mexico who passed away Sunday, March 18, 2001 at Livermore, California, were held Friday, March 23 at Northside Church of Christ; in Farmington, New Mexico. Interment followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the directon of the Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home.
George was born January 27, 1930 the son of Chester and Olive Clark Willis of Talala Public School. After graduating from high school he worked in Jal, New Mexico. While there he met and married Shirley Cunningham. After serving a hitch in the U.S. Army, they returned to Jal where he resumed his employment with Wm. Cameron Lumber Co.. He was later transferred to Farmington, New Mexico, where they made their permanent home. After retirement, they traveled and stayed at Padre Island during the winter months. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; a daughter, Valerie Jo Koski of Livermore, California; two sons: Larry Willis of Bloomfield, New Mexico and Randy Willis of Reno, Nevada; his mother, Olive Trissell of Nowata; a sister, Mary Holt of Claremore; two brothers: Bob Willis of Dallas, Texas and Henry Willis of Collinsville and eight grandchildren.
