Funeral services for Kenneth "
Kenny" Eugene
Shipley, 48, of the
Childers Community who died Friday, March 23, 2001 as the result of a motor vehicle accident on U.S. 169 at road 10, north of Lenapah, at Jane
Phillips Nowata Health Center, were held Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the Living Word Family Church with Sister Shirley Randall and Brother Jim
Winslow officiating. Interment followed at Martin Cemetery in the Twin
Bridges Community under the direction of Benjamin Funeral
Service of Nowata.
Kenny was born at Nowata on October 4, 1952, the son of John A. and Wanda Dean
Watson Shipley. He was a lifelong member of
Nowata County and ived on his family's homeplace near
Childers. Kenny was an avid roper and rancher. He was a self-employed welder and mechanic and recently was working for Farmland Industries at Coffeyville,
Kansas. Kenny had served in the
Oklahoma National
Guard. He enjoyed his church family and was a member of the
Childers Full Gospel Church. He loved horses, roping and his farm. Kenny married Terry Lee
Cline on May 6, 1975 at Neosho,
Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2001.
Survivors include his parents: John and Nancy
Shipley of Nowata; two sons: DeWayne
Hester of Ramona and Danny
Hester and his wife, Tracy of Childers; his paternal grandmother, Mamie
Harrison of Nowata; a sister, Carol Marie
Shipley of Nowata; three step-sisters: Sherri
Rust of Oglesby; Lisa Rhynerson and Christy
Inman, both of Bartlesville; two uncles:
Wolf Shipley of Nowata and Bob Gaut of Childers; four grandchildren: Terri McKee, Ashtyn, Kyndra and Sheridyn
Hester. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Dean
Shipley on February 8, 1974.
