Funeral services for Hazel I. "Jean" Worden, 78, of Lindsay who died Friday, March 9, 2001 at her home were conducted Monday, March 12 at the First Christian Church at Lindsay, with the Reverend Roland Earsom officiating. Burial followed in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. Casket Bearers were her children, their spouses; her grandsons: Chris and Doug Worden, Craig Ray and Rickey Norman.
Jean was born May 31, 1922 at Mr. View to Effie P. and Evelyn Moseley Pritchard. She was a longtime resident of the Lindsay area. She attended school at Mt. View. On October 12, 1948, she married Ray Worden at Amarillo, Texas. She had met Ray while she was working in Pampa, Texas. While he worked in the Oil Patch, she worked at various occupations during her lifetime, such as a restaurant owner/operator twice at Ringling and was an Amway, Tupperware, and Avon representative. Jean was also an avid and skilled ceramic artist who worked out of her home and at Maysville. She also enjoyed working with Nursing Home residents teaching ceramics. Her most prized possession was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Worden was an active member of the First Christian Church of Lindsay.
Survivors include her children: Glenda Kay White and her husband, Frank of Houston, Texas; Ken Worden and his wife, Tish of Pauls Valley; Rick Worden and his wife, Dianna of Paoli and Jane Worden of Lindsay; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers; Willie Pritchard of Carnegie and Delmar Pritchard of Mayflower, Arkansas and other relatives and a lifetime accumulation of friends.
Jean is preceded in death by one son, Randy in 1983 and her husband Ray in 1997 as well as an infant child at birth.
