Funeral services for Ben Clark, 79, of Nowata, who died Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at the Veterans Admistration Medical Center in Muskogee, were held Monday, March 5 at the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend Ron Hight of the First Church of the Nazarene in Nowata officiating. Military rites were accorded by the Honor Guard Detail from Ft. Sill and funeral services and interment were under the direction of the Stumpff Nowata Funeral Home.
Ben was born on September 16, 1921 in Ray County, Missouri to Henry Wesley and Leiala Edith WSright Clark. He entered the U.S. Army on October 7, 1942 serving during World War II and received his Honorable Discharge on September 20, 1945. He was employed with McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis and later at Comanco in Alluwe until his retirement. He was married to Rosella Everett Cobb at Miami on August 23, 1971. They have made their home in Nowata since that time. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Nowata.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Rosella Clark of the home; one son, Dale Clark of DesMoines, Iowa; one step-son Kenneth Cobb of Nowata; three daughters: Margaret Barks of Missouri; Cindy Fieldworth of the St. Louis, Missour area and Patricia Howard of Conway, Arkansas; three brothers: J.W. Clark, Joe Clark and Dean Clark, all of Missouri; two sisters: Lela Mae Williams and Mary, both of Missouri; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Edith Bellamy and a son, Mark Benton Clark.
A memorial has been established to the Cancer Society, c/o Kathy leeper, P.O. Box 1094, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74005.
