Graveside services for Richard Dean "Dick" Dustin, 69, long time Nowata resident who died Saturday, March 3, 2001, will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 7 at the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend Chuck Cowell officiating and interment will be under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.

Dick began his life June 29, 1931 in Topeka, Kansas as the son of Paul Maxwell and Gladys Ann Beard Dustin. He grew up in the Topeka area and received his educatoin there. Dustin entered the Air Force on March 14, 1949 at Topeka and received his discharge on October 23, 1952 at Hill AFB, Utah with the rank of Airman 2nd Class. Mr. Dustin moved to the Nowata area in 1965 and worked as a Field Inspector for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. He later went into oil production and retired in 1990. He met and later was united in marriage with Mark Barker on December 12, 1992 at Nowata. They have continued to make Nowata their home. Mr. Dustin was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nowata and he enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Dustin of the home; two step-sons Larry G. Mitchell and his wife Betty of Claremore and Alan Dane Mitchell and his wife, Deanna of Tulsa; one brother, Paul Dustin of Alvin, Texas; by three sisters: Dorothy Gowan of Wichita, Kansas; Pat Pongrantz of Paxico, Kansas and Marilyn Barrett of Henderson, Tennessee; by his mother-in-law, Velma Lane of Nowata; by four grandchildren; by one great-grandchild; by special friends, Casey Jenkins of Chelsea and Jim and Lela Epple of Nowata; by other relatives and his many friends.

Mr. Dustin was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia Whitmarsh.
