Bruce began this life April 13, 1906 in Cameron, Oklahoma, the son of Bruce Tinsley and Nannie Kay Eichenberger DeWitt. He grew up in Missouri and graduated from High School there. Soon after graduation, he moved to Tulsa where he went to work as a grocery wholesale. He met and later was united in marriage with Trenna Bella Hall on December 28, 1926 at Tulsa. In the early 1940's, Bruce and "Stan" Stanley purchased the Stan-De Ranch south of Nowata and operated it until the mid 1960's. His wife, Trenna, preceded him in death on October 15, 1966. Later, Bruce and Margaret L. DeMoss were married January 7, 1967 at Nowata. This union of more than 26 years ended when Margaret died on March 23, 1995. Bruce has continued to make Nowata his home. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church and enjoyed woodworking and sign painting.

Mr. DeWitt is survived by two step-daughters: Donna Kay Pierce and her husband, Marvin of Oklahoma City and Dorothy Jean Cook and her husband, Richard of LaFayette, Louisiana; by four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; by other relatives, and by his many friends.

In addition to his first wife, Trenna and his second wife, Margaret; Bruce was also preceded in death by one son, Lt. Robert Allen DeWitt, who was killed in 1953 while serving with the U.S. Navy.
