Graveside services for Louise
Susie Martin, 87, of Sand
Springs, who died Friday, February 23, 2001 at St. John Medical Center in
Tulsa, were held Monday, February 26 at Nowata Memorial
Park Cemetery with the Reverend Rick
Thayer officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Benjamin Funeral
Service of Nowata.
Louise was born March 6, 1918 at
Temple,
Texas to
Horace Carrol and Bessie Lee Scott
Cartwright. She moved from
Temple,
Texas to Russelville,
Arkansas where she met and later married William West Martin at Russellville. SHe moved to
Logan,
West Virginia during World War II and then to
Tulsa after the war. She has lived in the
Tulsa Metro area since, Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a member of the First Methodist Church of Sand
Springs and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed painting and growing flowers.
Survivors include two sons: William Martin, Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida and John Martin of Broken
Arrow and one daughter, Bessie Ruth
Gorham of Sand Springs; a step-sister: Paynie
Sanders of Yucaipa,
California and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Martin on January 13, 1990 and a brother,
Horace Cartwright.
