Services for Robert
Stookey, 72 of Nowata who died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at Jane Phillips Nowata Medical Center, were held Tuesday, January 2, 2001 at the Walker-Brown Chapel with Dr. Lowell Meister and
Pastor Perry Flerchinger officiating. Final committal rites were accorded Mr. Stookey in the
McMains Cemetery east of Nowata under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home of Bartlesville.
Robert was born March 1, 1928 in
Oglesby to C.D. and
Cora Edith Shull
Stookey. He served in the
Army Air
Corp just after World War II in the occupational forces in Japan. Robert married Billie
Ballard December 3, 1949 in Bartlesville. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Nowata. He was a service manager at
Oakley Pontiac
Buick in Bartlesville for a number of years. He was an automotive instructor at OSU
Tech in Okmulgee until his retirement. His life revolved around his family, church and work.
Mr. Stookey is survived by his wife, Billie
Stookey of the home, two daughters: Pam and her husband, Beryl Scott of
Oklahoma City and Judith and her husband, Kim
Mabry of Bartlesville; three grandchildren, Kassie and her husband, John Hixon of Bartlesville; Timothy and his wife, Emily
Anderson of Havana, Kansas and Lindsey
Anderson of Bartlesville; one great-grandchild, Wyatt
Anderson of Havana; three brothers: Alvin
Stookey of Claremore; Charles
Stookey of
Austin, Texas and Dan
Stookey of
Oakland, California; two sisters:
Mickey and her husband, George
Speer of Bartlesville and Opal
Stierwalt of Ephrata, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, C.D. and
Cora Edith
Stookey. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the 10-33 Emergency Team in Nowata.
