Memorial services for Ronald L. Holland, 61 of Collinsville, who passed away Saturday, December 23, 2000 in a
Tulsa Hospital, were held Saturday, December 30 in the
Chapel of the Garden at
Rice Funeral
Service in Claremore.
Ron was born January 27, 1939 at
Childers. He was the son of Thomas V. and Gladys D. Jarrett Holland. He grew up and attended school in Nowata, graduating with the Nowata High School Class of 1957. During his school years, he both played in the school band and was part of the Ironman football team. Home through out the earlier years was both Nowata and Bartlesville. He later lived and worked in
Tulsa. Finally, he chose to settle in Collinsville.
Holland began to work in the oil-related business as soon as he completed his education. He and Sondra
Lindersmith were married in 1960 and they had two daughters. Ron was in the
Army Reserves from 1960 until 1964, when he was honorably discharged. When he changed professions, he began to work in management for convenience stores. At one time, he owned and operated his own Seven-Eleven store in Claremore. He semi-retired and then began to work for Bud's Store in Collinsville, retiring in 1997.
When Ron wasn't working, he especially enjoyed tending his annual vegetable garden. And, having owned his own race horses in past years, he took a real interest in the races. But, probably his most enjoyable pasttime was fishing with his old friends, and they went every time they had an opportunity. Watching his children and grandchildren's sports events was a favorite thing for him.
Those who survive are his daughters: Shelbie Allen of Inola and Crystal
Tandy and her husband, Scott of Claremore; his four grandchildren: Kayleigh and
Kelsey Allen, both of Inola and Tim and Tyler
Tandy, both of Claremore; a sister, JoAnn
Stuller of
Lubbock,
Texas and a nephew and niece: Steven and Stephanie, both of
Lubbock.
