Funeral services for Ada Hicks, 78 of Longview, Texas who passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001 in Longview were held at the graveside in Martin Cemetery east of Childers on Saturday, January 20 with the Reverend Lawrence Green officiating. Interment followed at Martin Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.
Ada was born December 20, 1922 to Olay and Bertha Patterson Hayes at Nowata. She grew up in Nowata County. She married Delbert H. "Red" Hicks, Sr. on May 23, 1940 at Nowata. After their marriage they lived in several states following her husband's work. She moved to Longview in 1974. Ada was a homemaker and of the Lutheran faith.
Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband. Delbert H. "Red" Hicks on November 12, 1983.
Survivors include three sons: Ronnie G. Hicks of Chicago, Illinois; Delbert H. Hicks, Jr., Nowata and Richard D. Hicks, Longview, Texas and one daughter, also of Longview; two brothers: Chester Hayes of Borger, Texas and Leo Hayes of Eufaula Lake; also one sister, Polly Saine of Fritch, Texas; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
