Graveside services for George "Sam" Miller 81, of Nowata who died Friday December 29, 2000 at his home will be at Nowata's Re-located Cemetery 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2001 with interment following under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service in Nowata.
Sam was born in Checotah on March 21, 1919 the son of Alex John and Ivy Lee Templeton Miller. He moved from Checotah to the Sageeyah area of Rogers County with his family at an early age. They later moved to the Pawhuska area where Sam received his education. As a young man, he entered the Civilian Conservation Corps and moved to Nowata in the early 1940's. Sam and Doris Imogene Taylor were married at Nowata on January 17, 1942. He was a retired dairy farmer and truck driver. Mr. Miller retired in 1983 from B & B Truck Lines of Tulsa.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Doris on October 28, 1995; two brothers: John and Lindy Miller and two sisters: Mary Thompson and Virginia Nave.
He is survived by two sons: Sammy G. Miller and his wife, Jenny of Bartlesville and Roy G. Miller and his wife, Paula of Cookson; six grandchildren: Stacy Kirkpatrick, Mike Miller, Robert Moore, Chris Miller, Melissa Miller and Justin Leatherwood; a brother, Bill Miller of Boca Raton, Florida; three sisters: Helen Hixon of Bartlesville; Rosie Jackson of Adair and Betty Wilhite of Oologah.
Honorary Pallbearers are J.J. Riner and Bruce Campbell.
The family suggests that friends who wish give to the Nowata 10-33 Team.
