Funeral services for Edith Mae
Redman 93, of Nowata, who died Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at Jane
Phillips Nowata Health Center were held Thursday, December 21 at Benjamin Funeral
Chapel in Nowata with the Reverend Paul
Campbell officiating. Interment followed at Nowata Memorial
Park Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral
Service in Nowata. Pallbearers were seven grandsons.
Edith was born near
Shawnee in
Lincoln County Oklahoma Territory on August 8, 1907 to
Britton and Myrtle Love
Stark. The family moved from
Lincoln County to near
Dewey when she was five. She began her education in the Bluemound School house. In 1916, the family moved to
Copan. When she was 13 they moved to Midway School area. After her marriage to Elmer William
Redman at Bartlesville on June 1, 1926, she moved to the Hog
Shooter area then to the
Adair School District where she was a cook for eight years. The Redmans moved to Nowata in 1948. She was a member of Trinity Full
Gospel Church in Nowata, where she was active in the Church and Sunday School. Edith also loved flowers and feeding the birds.
Mrs. Redman is survived by two daughters: Ruth Marie
Voris of Nowata and Myrtle Ellen Sitsler of Coffeyville, Kansas; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer William
Redman on January 22, 1958; a great-granddaughter, a great-grandson; four brothers: Eugene, Lester, Chester and Raymond
Stark and two sisters: Mildred
Stark and an infant sister.
