Funeral services for James Harold "Red" Bodle 90, of Bartlesville, formerly of Nowata who died Sunday, December 17, 2000 at Nowata Nursing Center were held Tuesday, December 19 at Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel with interment following at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.

Red was born at Purcell on March 12, 1910 to Harve and Onie Skinner Bodle. He moved with his family from Purcell to Alluwe as a small child. He received his education in the old Alluwe School.

Mr. Bodle moved to Nowata after his first marriage to Lois Kathryn Ward Hoffman on October 16, of 1937 where he resided until 1996 when he moved to Bartlesville. Red was a welder many years and then later worked as a truck driver for Richardson Propane, retiring in 1975. His first wife Lois died on March 22, 1996 and he later married Gladys House in October of 1996.

Red was a charter member of Hillside Christian Church. He loved music and played the fiddle for numerous dances at various locations over the years.

Mr. Bodle is survived by his wife, Gladys Bodle of the home in Bartlesville; two daughters: Bonnie L. Hoffman Headrick and Nancy S. Wyckoff, both of Nowata; one step-son: Jimmie Lee House of Bartlesville; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Forbes of Albuquerque, New Mexico; James Felton Headrick of Tulsa; Regina Ann Evans of Ochelata and Brett "Dink" Ellis of Lenapah; three great-grandchildren: Ashley K. Miller of Nowata; Matthew B. Miller of Ochelata and Dally Jack Ellis of Lenapah; one sister: Francis White of Owasso.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
